First and foremost, the staff here are excellent. From the moment we stepped through the doors to the moment we left, they were all amazing. We arrived late from a long journey, just before last dinner sitting, yet the receptionist arranged for us to still have time to change and have dinner, walking us to our room, helping with luggage. The staff at the restaurant were friendly and professional, excellent service, breakfast and dinner. Every member of staff we came across were excellent, the hotel has to be commended for that. The evening meals were good, £15 for 3 courses cant be beaten locally I don't think.

The hotel is located near the top of a hill. Its walkable, and makes for lovely views. But the distance from the main marina town is enough that its quiet, and feels reclusive and cosy. We managed to walk to the town a few times, and up to the caverns with no issues. There is plenty of parking and the grounds are lovely.

Both pools and hot tubs are clean and warm. We were lucky enough to have a day of sun in the week to enjoy them. Was a lovely addition to facilities, and one which we looked forward to when booking and didn't feel let down. The hotel also had a singer of an evening, and films in their little cinema, which was good if you were in of an evening.

The hotel was clean, everywhere. Anything spilt or dropped was cleaned quickly and the room service of cleaning, replenishing and bedmaking was excellent. Our room was number 40, at the bottom of the annex of the hotel and had lovely windows which cooled the room and was quiet. We did have some noise from overhead after a couple of days, but nothing major and enjoyed the reclusive feel of our room especially as this was a break away without our respective children.

There were a couple of downsides, which is why we rated the hotel 4 and not 5. The rooms were clean, but just on the edge of needing redecorating. The shower over bath was powerful, but there was black markings from the lack of window on the ceiling. The bath plug turning mechanism was also not good so we had to manually fully remove the plug. The wall in the main room were also quite marked by the windows, a simple lick of paint at end of high season would be fine, but it was just starting to look tired. We were disappointed by the size of the room - we had purposely booked through booking.com a standard double and not a compact but I'd question the difference! Once the bed was in there was little room either side to the walls to walk round. And the bed was disappointing. A kingsize was in fact 2 twin beds pushed together. Granted, this made for a bigger bed (!) but it wasn't as comfortable as a purpose built double would have been and we were disappointed by this. The headboards didn't fit when the beds were moved, and although they were pushed close and had a topper you could feel the crease, which on a romantic break away wasn't ideal. We did wonder whether we should have booked direct with the hotel instead of through booking.com.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Torquay. We were in the Annex (originally a separate house from their history display) which was cosy and clean. We sneaked a look round the old original Lincombe Hall and it was lovely and grand. We were pleased for the quietness of our room though, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were worried from other reviews of "mature couples" we'd feel out of place (in our 30s) but we didn't and if we were nearer we would definitely return. As it is, maybe in a few years for an anniversary or such like. If you're looking for a hotel in Torquay though, book here, you really wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: For views ask for the main building, but most are gold or higher rooms. The Annex is cosy and room 40 was very quiet, but ideally a twin room.

Nicely refurbed hotel close to centre of Torquay. Room was clean, shower excellent. We stayed in one of the rooms not in the main hotel building. A little noisy in the morning. Otherwise it was lovely. The only gripe we had was that the bar staff were rather rude.

If your off to Torquay, this hotel is a must. A most beautiful well kept building, clean immaculate. Staff are 10/10. My party of 9 did not have a bad word to say on stay. A very pleasing experience. The pools are well kept towels provided. The food is of a very high standard and cater for all diets. Entertainment is very good. I am not surprised by the good reviews of trip advisor as this hotel really delivers.
The owners should be very pleased and proud of all the staff. Our next stay is already being planned.

Thank you lincombe hall hotel for a truly fantastic stay at a wonderful hotel. Gold star and 10/10 from the Richard Morris party

Room Tip: All rooms were amazing and spotless

We have just returned from a three day break at the Lincombe Hall Hotel. We arrived early but were shown straight to our room, offer of help with the baggage too. The staff were friendly throughout. We stayed dinner, bed and breakfast and enjoyed all meals. The entertainment on the Tuesday evening was really good, a male singer who really engaged with the audience. Service is second to none. The weather was not great but the pool was in use in the rain and sunshine. We had a 3 hour window of sunshine and the quality pool chairs, sunbeds etc made for an enjoyable afternoon. We will be returning....

Room Tip: Request front of house rooms
