Food was good but always late and lukewarm because of poor waitress service. The rooms were clean but very tired and needed upgrading and decorating. We travelled with National Holidays and had great journeys at all times and Sharon our driver was excellent and very knowledgeable about the journeys and trips we took. Overall good value for money.

Thank you for your recent review. We do get a lot of compliments for the food and our chef has worked with me for nearly 17 years (Im getting old!!) so I know I am lucky to have him as part of the team. I was disappointed to read that service was a bit of an issue for you so I am sorry you expereinced some delays. It can be quite hectic when we have 230 guests all sit down at the same time and we do encourage a staggered meal time so it doesnt feel so rushed. Hopefully you will consider visiting us again in the near future

We stayed here for 3 nights on an inclusive deal which was worth every penny. The hotel is in a nice part of Babbacombe (outskirts of Torquay)..The area has larger hotels and homes..
no cheap and nasty b & b's here we think.
The hotel rooms were adequate and clean and we had no complaints really. Had tea and coffee replenished every day. Bathroom was ok, shower not wonderful but ok.(Though we did have a problem with hot water one day).
The dining room was well done out with a modern colour scheme and looked nice. The food and the service were all reasonably good too, food nothing fancy but all edible. The staff were very efficient and looked after everyone quickly enough.
The bar and entertainment area was also modern decor, large screen TV etc but got busy with people as showtime got nearer and although there were plenty of seats, some could not see the acts. Bingo was played every night and a small quiz to keep us entertained and then a singer of some sort. We saw a Neil Diamond tribute act whilst we were there..he wasn't on long but he was quite good. ...other singers were only mediocre at best.
There is a little main street in Babbacombe with a few shops but not many. Along the walkway across the sea cliff top there are a few eateries/bars (part of hotels) so enough to keep you occupied for the few days we were there. The area felt quite select and not run down at all. A quaint little Devon village really.
We enjoyed our stay on the whole..met some nice people travelling down on the coach too, so all in all worth every penny for our nice short break.

Room Tip: There are front facing rooms but only over the car park so not worth paying etxra for I would think...

Sorry to read that you were disappointed with the menu this visit, we are always happy to give larger portions if required. We have experienced some problems with the hot water due to a recurring fault with one of the boilers, but I hope this is now sorted! I hope you will consider revisiting and let us provide you with some hearty meals!

Just returned from the Trecarn and would not return. We stayed in room 217 and I don't know how they can charge for this room. The bathroom ceiling was black with damp, the bedroom curtains were the same. The bath fittings left a lot to be desired and need replacing. The service in the dining room was terrible. We had the waitress nearest to the kitchen door but she took forever, even needed a pen and paper for tea and coffee orders for 6 of us.Television in room stopped working Wednesday, by friday still not sortred.
Our National driver Les was really good and we went on some lovely trips out. shame about hotel its the worst one we have stayed in on National Holidays

Sorry to read your review and note you found the hotel not to your liking. We do have the Coast & Country Hotel division which may be more to your liking. We do strive to refurbish over a period of time and I am hoping to do some more rooms this winter

This was our 2nd visit to the Trecarn, we enjoyed it last year and also again on the National trip from Lancashire friday to monday. We were on the ground floor and didn't have the hot water problem, in fact the room was excellent backing on to the coach park no noise. The food was very good the staff and dinning room were excellent, if all National hotels were as good as this one they would be on to a winner. Room 234
The only downside to the hol., was our driver Mike, his first day with National, he was so agressive on the road used his horn 5 times and was agressive verbally to some of the passengers, if you read this Mike I would'nt travel with you again, you had a coach of nervous passengers.

Room Tip: Would like this room 234 and location next time although I have been on first floor before it saves...

Thank you for taking the time to post a review, and thank you for returning! It is always good to see guests visit us time and again as it proves we must be doing something right. The water problem that week was on the other side of the hotel and is served by a different boiler so I am pleased that you didnt experience any difficulties. I hope that you do return again and if so, please give us a ring at the hotel beforehand so we can allocate the same room if you would like us to. I cannot comment on the driver as they do not actually work for the hotel, but I am sorry you experienced problems with yours.
