on arrival found that no room had been allocated to my partner and myself, after a while we were given the keys to room 236 no sooner had we opened the fire door to the corridor our room was in you were hit by a damp foisty smell. room 236 the walls are covered by black damp, the bedding was damp to the touch, the bathroom ceiling was covered with black mould. We requested a change of room but were told no other rooms were available our driver [rep] anthony inspected our room and immediately rang his company boss and insisted we be moved to another hotel which we were. Other hotel the Maycliff was excellent but when you come with a party of 40+ this is not ideal. It tok 1/4 of an hour by taxi to meet up with our friends.

Just got back from a seven day holiday at the Trecarn Hotel in Torquay with national holidays. This is our second time at this hotel this year and we are now planning a third. Our first holiday here was good but this one was brilliant. It is a very pleasant hotel and we found the staff are always willing to help. Although some of the rooms are in the process of being upgraded we were lucky enough to have one that has already been done which had a spacious bathroom with anew shower cubicle and was lovley and clean. Hopefully all the other rooms will soon be like this as well. It is a shame that some people were n t to happy with there rooms. We found the restaurant had a good choice of food every night and the tables were always set out to a high standard. Chloe our waitress was very friendly and efficient at serving us and very polite. One of the best things about this hotel is the entertainment , the resident compare Simon deserves a special mention he is very funny and creates a really good atmosphere we havn t laughed so much in ages. He is also a very talented singer. We also thought the abba and Tom Jones tributes were very good you would have to pay alot of money to see these somewhere else. We made the most of the free bar and although we had to que longer at first after a while it didn t take long to get served as the bar staff were very quick. There is a good selection of drinks at the bar and you can upgrade to named brands for 50p it would be nice to see this apply to other beers and ciders as well. We stayed at this hotel with a party of six and we would all recommend this hotel to our friends.

Arrived at the Trecarn Hotel to be greeted with our keys and welcome information pack, the rooms were all ready for us all, (party of six) with no problems,
The meals were all on time with fantastic service from all Staff, always had a nice smile and was happy to help, for this we all were well pleased, the rooms are kept clean and stocked with tea/coffee/cups/kettle etc etc.
Entertainment every night with the fantastic Simon ( Compare and all round entertainer) what a great laugh we all had, Thanks Simon if you're reading this, you made our Holiday special Thanks for meeting us all in the Dog & Duck pub on our last night (Simons night off) then back to the Trecarn for more Great entertainment.(and a few more beers), we did have to cue at the bar some nights but with 3 excellent, quick working bar staff we wasn't waiting long ( and if Amy is reading this-- i love yer xxx)

Looking at some others comments, not sure if some cutomers know that the Trecarn is going through stages of refurbishment to bring it back to it former glory, this by the way did not interfere with our stay at the Hotel,
So to finish off, i we would like to say a big thank you to all at the Trecarn team, especially :- Simon, Amy, Chloe, Maria, Carla, Jesus, we love you all xxx

We held our wedding reception at the Trecarn Hotel and cannot fault it one bit. Everybody had a wonderful time. The food was lovely, the service was impeccable and Simon and Jacqui (the managers) could not do enough to help. Thank you so much for helping us have such a fabulous day.

Travelled with a party of 12 for 5 days with National Holidays at a cost of £199 each. When arriving at this hotel do not be put off by the maze of corridors as you try to locate your room as after you've settled into a clean basic room which might not be decorated to the highest standard but has everything you need, the dining room experience will more than make up for your first impressions. Ahh, to be served at your table by super efficient waiters and waitresses was such a joy instead of the increasing buffet style operations. The food served was good quality and very tasty. We had a good choice of menu at each evening sitting and the vegetables were served in tureens. A bonus was that guests keep the same table throughout their stay. This was a very well run restaurant. The visiting entertainers at the hotel were very good and their was bingo every evening. A three hour free bar from 7.30pm was incredible value for money as part of our "all-inclusive" package and the only catch that I could see was the fact that you could only collect either one or two drinks from the bar at a time which meant there was always a queue att the bar. But you can only drink so much!!

me and my daughter arrived at the treacarn hotel after a long 7 hour journey at the front it looked pretty and though it had been refurbished. when we got inside it had been refurshed and so had the rooms at the FRONT of the hotel! by the way it is not in torquay it's in babbacombe. so all me and my daughter wanted to do was have a nice bath after such a long trip when we got into are room 259 it was appauling. it seriously needs decorating it looks like a room from the 50's, with moldy windows and cracked ceilings and stained carpets. we looked in the bathroom and it looked like a hopsital bathroom and the worst thing was that it smelt like a sewur NO JOKE! and our view was overlooking other rooms. i immediately went downstairs and complained to the reseptionist about our digusting rooms and she didn't seem to care she said theres no other rooms until tomorrow. we felt depressed in our room so we checked into another hotel down the road called the morningside which is lovely and i definetly reccomend this hotel and i have proof that we stayed there. so the next morning we headed back to the treacarn after breakfast and found us another room 257 which wasn't as bad as 259 but there was still smell in the bathroom, and had burnt carpets and cracked ceilings. the bedroom was very hot with thick winter sheets even though it's summer!!!!! later on i got a shower and was drying my hair in my bra and knickers while my daughter was reading a magazine and then suddenly a couple walked into out room with another key saying that we were in their room! so ovbisosly the receptionist didn't record that we moved rooms and then later on a different receptionist came up and apolgized. me and my daughter described it as fawlty towers!! the rooms at the front of the hotel have been refurbeshed. if you travel with national holidays like we did you'll find that you get put at the back of the hotel with furniture from the 50's. our bus driver was put in a tiny room in the attice and hated it! and we also felt very uncomfortable.
this hotel is despicable! DO NOT GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
