We went to this hotel for a 4 night break as part of a coach trip.. Pior to arriving I phoned the hotel and spoke to Sonia Green who was friendly ,polite and helpful. We arrived at the hotel check in went very smoothly and keys and rooms were distributed with directions to rooms, . we were on the 4th floor which was the floor above reception and the dining room. Our room was very nice spacious and to our eyes very clean and turned out to be comfortable, At dinner on arriving at the restaurant we were greeted by Andy who explained the format of the restaurant and were to find everything. We were then greeted by Jamie who found us a table and looked after us. Each evening was a dfferent roast joint but also some alternatives if you didn't want the roast..Breakfast was very similar in that Andy would explain things and a water this time a young blonde lady called Nat served us and was our waitress for the week.Nat was very good and nothing was too much trouble..On one occasion we couldn't seem to get the shower to work so we told reception and Ria came from reception to explain how it worked

My wife and I took my 95 year old mother to this hotel for a 4 night break. I was a little unsure of this choice of hotel after reading some reviews regarding the number of different levels. I contacted the hotel prior to going and was assured that my mother would be given a room close to the lift so she would not have to climb any stairs. Upon arrival , true to their word, my mother was given a room with access to the lift close by and we were allocated a room next door.

Upon arrival, we were booked straight in by friendly reception staff. The rooms on their 5th floor, were excellent value for money, both very clean, with a double and single bed in each, clean towels, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, and very warm, with comfortable beds. The water in the en suite was always piping hot.
The food at the hotel was exellent, with a full choice of cereals, fresh fruit, yogourt, and full cooked variety, and range of drinks etc.
Dinner consisted of a carvery every evening with a different meat served every evening plus an additional 2 choices of meal and a vegetarian option, with a very good selection of sweets to follow. The restaurant was very clean and organised with friendly staff. Food excellent.

The hotel has a very good club with entertainment every evening. There is an indoor swimming pool and fitness centre with full disabled access.

This is not a 5* hotel but in our opinion punches well above its weight and is EXCELLENT value for money. If returning to Torquay I would definately return to this hotel.

Room Tip: contact reception before hand and inform them of any preferences you have. 5th floor was very quiet.

we arrived at the rainbow on the 11th of october and were unsure if we were going to stay here as the outside of the hotel looked shabby ,however we ventured in and service was good and chose a delux room for an extra £10 per night ,room appeared ok ,but the bed was awfull ,very uncomfortable ,and the noise from above was bad ,this went on for 2 nights from 5 am ,constant banging and thumping ,not good ,we complained and were offered a bottle of wine and a different room ,we looked at the different room but were offered no refund on our upgrade ,and to be honest the room was smaller and not as good as the one we paid extra for ,manager was on hols so receptionist didnt know what to do ,no offer of refund for the night we refused to stay ,so checked out and went to the premiere inn ,not good service ,no apologies , no refund ,dissapointed with attitude of receptionist who basically had no idea of customer care and came across as agressive , a 3 night stay spoilt because we had to relocate to another hotel on our second night with no offer of compensation ,if you pay 3 nights and only stay 2 then a refund of 1 night would of been the norm ,but not here .not happy !

wearrived at hotel 7 - 11th october we are six friends and had a very enjoyable time. the staff were very helpful at all times , the food was excellent with very good choices at breakfast and dinner. the entertainment was very good and there was a lovely atmosphere there the hotel was clean and the room service was very good too.the swimming pool was very clean. we would definately stay here again and recommend it to friends. we were worried when we arrived as we had read some reviews which did not give a nice opinion of the hotel but now we have stayed there we have proved them wrong. do not always go by some of these reviews the only down side was too many stairs

We arrived Monday, and right away were impressed by the welcome.Straight to our room and out for a nosy round the hotel.Small heated pool just round the corner, what luck. All the staff were very efficient and at all times welcoming.Meals were great with a very wide selection to suit everyone.Breakfast was an experience with a toaster which had a mind of its own ,sometimes toasting dark ,sometimes light.Evening meals were excellent and served carvery style. The desserts were my wifes favourite with that special southern coast ice cream, and plenty of it.Ive heard of tales of this hotel being tired and needing TLC,but everywhere was spotless and always full ,so when can a facelift be carried out.We two are going again that's for sure.

Room Tip: Be prepared to line up early for meals. Try the fish pie and the steak and kidney.

Within 2-minutes of arriving at Hotel Peppers in Torquay (our pre-booked accommodation) we walked out because of the un-acceptably rude and offensive attitude by the owner. Thanks to the advice of two local young ladies we found the Rainbow International Hotel in Torquay. The greeting from the Reception staff (Gerri) and the Manager (Dave) could not be more welcoming or helpful. Although they were busy, they put themselves out to help us in our hour of need – a room for three nights (26 Sept 2013 to 29 Sept 2013). The extra helpfulness continued with Tim (the Chef in the Restaurant) and Andy (in the Restaurant) as well as other staff we met. The room was clean, comfortable and of a suitable size for the two of us. The food (Breakfast and Evening Meal) was of a high standard (better than many high-street Restaurants) with an excellent choice (including vegetarian) no matter what time you entered the Restaurant – we were on B&B and Evening Meal. There is a free indoors swimming pool and a room with three irons and ironing boards that are free for guests to use. There was entertainment every evening we were there and it was of a high standard. We were told by the Manager that a program of updating the rooms is in progress, but like all things it takes time. We had no problem parking our car. The overall cost for the room (for the three nights) was the same as Hotel Peppers that was only B&B. This took into consideration that at Hotel Peppers (it was just a converted domestic house), the evening meal had to be purchased in town and it had no adequate parking for a car such as our Renault Scenic Grande, so you had to pay at the parking meter by the hour (day and night) across the road down a side street. We would go back to the Rainbow International Hotel and we recommend it highly to others.

Just back from having a wonderful w/e at the Rainbow Hotel. A little dated maybe but very comfortable and clean. Food was good, entertainment great and the staff were 2nd to none. All in all a smashing w/e. Booked immediately for the Burlesque show on the 21 12 2013. Thank you. Mike Dyson Plymouth
