My friend and I have just returned from staying at Ashley Court for five days and we had a brilliant time! Yes, the hotel is old and could do with upgrading, but that is only cosmetic. Let's face it the price is very reasonable and you get what you pay for. Having said that, we found the staff, particularly Danielle, in the dining room very very hospitable and friendly. The entertainment, Monday and Thursday was superb, ok, it is for the older generation but I'm sure they cater for whoever is using the hotel. When we were there, there were only four young girls staying, the rest were 50 and over so it would be useless booking a group of youngsters to play to this age group. As for the amenities, the water was boiling hot all the time, and the swimming pool was lovely, although we couldn't use it because of the weather. Last but not least, the people staying there at the same time as us were a great crowd, particularly a couple from Bolton (originally Scotland) and a couple from Bootle helped make our stay memorable. The only downside I could see was, there was only one lift and that only serviced one side of the hotel, so if you are bad on your legs you may wish to book a ground floor room.

Room Tip: Ask, if you need a walk in shower or ground floor

Dated and a bit shabby but spacious rooms and plentiful and well-cooked food. More popular with coach parties of retired people (hence the bingo and daily roast dinners), it was a friendly place and good location, though Torquay's hills may deter some. Hard-working waitresses were friendly and attentive and overall, we enjoyed our short stay

Found the hotel to be clean and tidy, our room was quite good and the bathroom a reasonable size. The evening entertainment was a chore to sit through, so left at half time. We moved a couple of chairs to make it easier to get out to go to the bar, the woman who is an owner came over and put them back, she told us not to move them again as she would come over and put them back again, The meals were ok but nothing special, and breakfast on our last morning was horrendous, the waitress tipped a whole plateful of food in my lap, then walked away to carry on serving, I had to ask for some cloths to clean myself up, I stood up surrounded by baked beans and she made no attempt to clean them up off the floor, I had to return home with my clothes all stained, as my suitcase was already loaded on the coach. No sign of an apology off the management at all.

Just came back from this Hotel went last weekend...staff very pleasant and helpful, food all fresh and lots of it, no trouble asking for more Tea, Coffee, Toast nothing to much trouble.
Beds and room nice and clean, also nice size bathroom. the entertainment wasn't all that good, but we were not paying for that.
We did get to play Bingo, had no-one to call out etc, staff set it all up for us and our party did the rest , all very enjoyable, would recommend it and stay there again..
