I stayed at this hotel with a coach tour. It was extremely dated, drab and not too clean. The waiting staff couldn't wait for you to finish your meal before taking your plate from you. Tea and coffee at breakfast was stewed and cold. Staff very unprofessional.

We returned yesterday from a Leisuretime 1 night break for the Eden Project.

To be honest, I would've preferred to stay in Torquay for the day rather than the 2 hour bus trip to Eden.

The Ashley Court Hotel was brilliant. All members of staff were real friendly.

We walked down the hill into town for Saturday afternoon & spent a good few hours trying out the local inns - our favourite being The Cider Press. We are in our early forties, we really liked our daytime drinkies in Torquay, but we didn't fancy the night time what so ever., there seemed to be abit of an atmostphere with gangs of lads - not worth the hassle.

The walk took 10 - 15 minutes depending on your pace. Apparently you can divert using the lift in the multistorey carpark that is just around the corner from the hotel.

The evening meal was fabulous, even considering there were 3 coach loads (about 150 guests) staying. We had a bottle of Rose with our meal, and it only cost £10.49
The bar prices were great too.
We stayed for the evening entertainment ( something we never do) & the singer was really good (sorry but I think it was Sarah). She sang a wide range of songs, there was something for everyone.

We had room 36 - good sized room. 2 single beds & 1 double. A view over the pool. Tea & coffee supplied. Hairdryer supplied. Use of iron available. Nice sized shower cubicle. Very clean.

Breakfast was very well catered for, with a wide choice.

The waitresses did an amazing job.

Would we return? To The Ashley Court, definately, but not to The Eden Project

The only problem that we found with this hotel ,was that the owner was very rude.
I suggest that she aquires some skills on how to deal with the public.
We will not be staying at this, are any other hotel that she is associated with.

Just returned from a David Urquhart coach tour staying at this hotel. The restaurant staff were very friendly and worked really hard. The food was excellent and varied, and always fresh. The hotel itself could do with a makeover but the friendliness of all the staff more than made up for it. The swimming pool, although small, was lovely with fresh towels provided. The entertainment, particularly Chris on the first night, was well worth staying in for and bingo was held before the entertainment. Prices in the bar very very reasonable. It was about a fifteen minute walk into the town centre, all downhill. Took longer coming back as it was uphill. All in all a good value for money holiday.

Room Tip: rooms 20 or 25 if you have mobility problems.

I don't know what people find to complain about at this hotel .we all found it excellent value for money .The rooms were spacious ,comfy beds.clean and serviced every day although It was a little inconvenient to get to our room having to negotiate quite a few stairs .Once there we overlooked the swimming pool so it was worth the walk .We found the staff very helpful and friendly particularly the waitresses in particular Danielle.who always had a cheery greeting for us.The food was very good with a good choice of menu and well cooked and well presented. The entertainment was very good each night and catered more for our era .and the SUN shone so what more could you ask

My friend and I have just returned from staying at Ashley Court for five days and we had a brilliant time! Yes, the hotel is old and could do with upgrading, but that is only cosmetic. Let's face it the price is very reasonable and you get what you pay for. Having said that, we found the staff, particularly Danielle, in the dining room very very hospitable and friendly. The entertainment, Monday and Thursday was superb, ok, it is for the older generation but I'm sure they cater for whoever is using the hotel. When we were there, there were only four young girls staying, the rest were 50 and over so it would be useless booking a group of youngsters to play to this age group. As for the amenities, the water was boiling hot all the time, and the swimming pool was lovely, although we couldn't use it because of the weather. Last but not least, the people staying there at the same time as us were a great crowd, particularly a couple from Bolton (originally Scotland) and a couple from Bootle helped make our stay memorable. The only downside I could see was, there was only one lift and that only serviced one side of the hotel, so if you are bad on your legs you may wish to book a ground floor room.

Room Tip: Ask, if you need a walk in shower or ground floor
