We stayed at the hotel whilst on a total fiasco of a coach holiday arranged with Diamond Holidays, it was enlightened by the people at this hotel,we thought the food was excellent and well presented. The staff were sympathetic and helpful, the room was bright clean and spacious but ok it is a 2 star hotel. The sheer incompetence of the tour operator meant we spent more time around the hotel that we intended but nevertheless nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Ok it is a coach hotel and you will have a large number of people some of which were thoroughly fed up with the coach operator and tried to take it out on the staff but it was not their problem and they coped well with everything. The bar prices were very reasonable and a very nice touch we thought was handing all the ladies a bunch of daffs on Mothers day.

Stayed from 13 to 17 March on a Coach Holiday. Food was great with ample portions and plenty of variety. Entertainment was also very good and the Bar prices reasonable.. Waiting and Bar staff were Brilliant.. Room was clean and spacious.. Tis not the Ritz but we didn't pay any silly prices... All in all very good value and a very enjoyable stay .. Thanks

I am really not sure why there are so many negative reviews of this hotel. We stayed there as part of a coach party and found that as expected we got what we paid for ......The reception staff could have been more helpful BUT the waiting staff and the Bar staff both gave excellent service and were very pleasant and efficient, the food was plentiful and good quality, the Bar prices were competitive and the entertainment was second to none.Yes the rooms were not huge and a little tired and the TVs are a little outdated BUT we didn't go away to watch TV or sit in the bedroom
Reviewers need to remember if you want 5 star service then pay 5 star prices.
All in all would recommend this hotel for a short break in Torquay.

Stayed here from 24 to 28 February and knew that the Hotel was rated as two Star so wasn't expecting anything too fantastic. The Hotel was a fair size and by the time I found my room I was slightly disorientated. The single room I had was functional but tatty with drawer handles missing, a toilet seat that moved when you sat on it and also had to sit on it sideways due to location of the sink. (My friend, in the next room had a perfectly positioned layout). I had to suss out the shower as it was far too hot on my first one but soon realised that the pointer didn't relate to the hot/cold .. but once sussed I had lovely showers. TV was a bit antiquated but worked (sort of) with the colour fading once on, but it was adequate. The meals were exceptional, we had a lovely waitress who worked her socks off. Plenty to eat, several choices for breakfast and Dinner which were very enjoyable. Bingo and entertainment were on every evening which I thoroughly enjoyed. Access to Torquay was incredibly easy . I did have views over the swimming pool but this was spoiled by holes in the net curtain ( personally I would take these down as ripped things really don't look nice. I was very happy with the Hotel generally - perhaps over time the rooms will be refurbished but it's a big Hotel and these things cost money. I would single the restaurant staff out for praise and for the Comedian on the Monday and the lovely blonde singer on the Tuesday. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay

Room Tip: Room 32 although a bit tired had everything you would want although there was only a view of the swi...

Can't fault the staff, good service, good food. As I say rooms need a bit of refurbishing. Rooms got draught coming in. Quiet place. Got their own entertainment every night. Bar staff nice people. Serving you with a smile.

Reviewed 30 December 2013

we returned 27th dec 2013 from a turkey and tinsel few days at this awful/dirty hotel with my 12 year old daughter, having been a head housekeeper for a long time I would not let a dog stay in this hotel for free, the rooms where disgusting and filthy along with the pillows and mattress covers, there were empty ice cream containers all over the place (including on the seating in the main lounge which someone knocked over only to cover a ladies feet) to catch the rain water from the leaking roof, upon arrival the first thing I noticed was the horrible carpets/wonky mirror and picture on the wall as you come in the front door so that was not a good start, there where 4 of us in our party and my key was just put on the reception desk for room 67 no welcome from the miserable receptionist or explanation of what the second key was for, most of the carpets were threadbare and filthy, the hot water was either scolding hot or freezing cold (no happy medium) the management really need a lesson in customer care as extremely rude, the manager on Christmas morning came looking for the cleaner and came to my door which i answered to hand her a bunch of keys and didn't even speak a word to me (not a friendly man) I also ordered 2 alcoholic drinks 1 for me and 1 for my over 60 year old friend only to be asked by the managers mother who was serving behind the bar that night if I was buying it for my 12 year old daughter to be honest I don't know which of the managers parents was the rudest as they both worked behind the bar, the food was ok and the restaurant and cleaning staff where nice but I would never recommend this hotel to my worst enemy and I certainly would never ever return even for free, the manager went around the hotel trying to mask the smells with the most horrendous strong lemon spray that really made your eyes water but never improved the hotel in the slightest, 1* hotel for 5* prices
