Gary, Debbie and Adam couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful - and always around for a friendly chat !

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Good breakfast, with a varied menu (and they were happy for you to order slight variations on the menu).

Highly recommended !

Thank you for such a wonderful return visit. The food, the room and the pool all made it a great holiday for us, but above all your kindness and humour really sets you apart from other hotels. Such a fantastic place and wonderful people, the boys are missing you already. Thanks again, you made our stay really memorable and you made us feel a part of the family.

Wow.... what a wonderfull weekend we had. You would be hard pushed to find a more comfortable, clean & friendlier place to stay. Gary, Debbie & Adam couldn't be more helpfull. The breakfasts were truly great and the location great as only a few mins walk took you to the harbour and town centre with loads of bars and good restaurants. I would reccomend a trip out to Cockington which is beautifull and has a very quirky cricket pitch in front of Cockington Court which houses many crafts including glass blowing. Kents cavern is also a good place to visit although I would have liked to have been there on a wednesday when they do dark ghost walks inside the caves which sounds fun.

After a surprisingly good stay in The Shirley in May we decided to return for another weekend. This visit was better than the last.
Debbie and Gary gave us a warm welcome remembering our previous stay.
They recommended some excellent restaurants in Torquay for the evening that was only a few minutes walk towards the sea front.
For our trip out during the day Gary looked up the address on the internet and produced some information to assist us in finding our destination
The pool was now open and we spent some time on the sun deck and cooling down with a swim.
Overall you could not find a nicer family run hotel in a superb location.

Just got back from The Shirley in Torquay. We really had a great time there. Garry, Debbie and Ads made us feel so welcome. The rooms were clean, the breakfasts were superb. The hotel is in a great location, just 5 mins from pubs, restaurants and the harbour. If you are going to Torquay for your holiday make sure you go to this hotel! Remember that it takes more than great weather to have a great holiday!

Having visited Orlando and Barcelona during recent years for our annual family holiday, we decided to stay in the UK this summer, low expense etc. My wife, myself and our two young daughters (8 and 3) all agreed that Torquay was our best family holiday so far, and this was mainly due to The Shirley Hotel. As most people have noted already, the hotel is spotless throughout and the breakfast is excellent also. However the big plus for us was the extraordinary lengths Gary, Debbie and Adam went to, to ensure our stay was the best possible. Full marks, we’ll be back!
