The hotel has only a 2 star rating, but proved to be much better than many 4 star hotels that we have stayed in.
The staff were very friendly and helpful making our stay extremely pleasant.
The room we occupied was smallish but was exceptionally clean, and had everything necessary for a comfortable stay. I believe the room sizes vary. The bath was fitted with a shower, but the shower lacked water pressure - usable but not perfect. The bed was comfortable and there was little noise to be heard during the night.
The quality and quantity of food was excellent - traditional and uncomplicated, and the staff were able to adapt the menu a little to accommodate preferences (i.e. by leaving an item off the plate when serving).
The entertainment offered in the hotel was versatile - very good. However, because of the type of trip we were on, we had little time to explore the rest of the resort of Torquay.

We stayed in this lovely hotel there was 6 of us 5 sisters and mother. mother is in her 90's. we had 3 rooms all next to each other on the ground floor, they were very clean and airy. In the dining room we had a separate table for all 6 of us and we kept this table for our entire stay. The food was very good and the service was well organised.
The hotel was on the outskirts of torquay which suited us.
All in all we had a really lovely time at the coppice hotel thanks to jennie and her husband.
We would definitey recommend this hotel.

We visited the Eden Project in June 2010 and stayed at this hotel. Good place to stay, very clean, food was great, plenty of it and good choices. We met the owners Jenny and Sid as strangers but left as friends. Lovely people. Would definitely stay there again.

This is our second visit to this hotel, we loved it so much on our honeymoon, we went back for our 1st anniversary, and yet again as the title of the review says, we had a fantastic stay, the food was at a high standard, Sid and Jenny are very friendly and welcoming, and the rest of the staff were helpful too, the room was cleaned every day, fresh towels and plenty of tea and coffee to hand, we met some old friends from last year, (the cricket team) who also happened to be staying at the same time as last year.
Looking forward to next year, as we have already rebooked.

I stayed here with my husband on a 5 day coach trip. I have no complaints about the hotel, it was very clean and the food was plain but good. My VERY BIG grumble was our bedroom. It was number 38 situated halfway below ground (window sill at ground level) with overhanging trees facing, therefore it was so dark and dingy and the lighting was poor, thus for a female trying to apply make-up or style hair an absolute disaster. The lighting in the bathroom was no better. My advise to anyone booking into this hotel would be to avoid bedrooms 37 to 40 like the plague. The indoor pool is only open from 9.00 until 6.00 so if you are on a coach trip - forget it. The gymnasium contains 3 machines so not exactly state of the art!

Having been coach drivers in the distant past, and all of us with Europe wide experience of hotels from the smallest too largest, this is one hotel that runs too perfection in every respect, from the minute you arrive too a warm welcome too the minute you reluctantly leave. All of us in our small group wish too make return visits either together or indiviually.DW.
