“Great Lunch”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

This first visit to the No 7 Fish Bistro for lunch on the day we arrived in Torquay set the standard for our trip. Great menu, service and ambience. It's a shame Torquay is so far from London, otherwise this would be a regular haunt.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

Two of us had a midweek lunch. We both had scallops, which were good, but our main courses each arrived in a bath of water and one was a "grilled lemon sole". I have never seen a sole grilled in water before and wouldn't want to do so again. The whole thing was slimy and unappetising. The roe looked boiled, which indeed it was and I doubt the fish had ever been anywhere near a grill except perhaps to warm it up. I had cod with tempura prawns. The prawns were ok, but the cod had its own little bath of water on the plate - very unpleasant and lacking any flavour.
The vegetables had been cooked earlier that morning and reheated. They came in little metal dishes and the contents lacked any flavour and were inedible.
Not a place to which we shall return.

“Food Heaven in Torquay”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

Just come back from a few days in Brixham, Devon. My wife and I were recommended to book a table at this bistro fish restaurant. Good advice, as when we went on Tuesday 29th April it was very busy. A substantial menu of fish dishes is breathtaking with lots of choice. We just had starters and main courses with a good bottle of white wine. Every morsel was cooked to perfection and tasted fantastic. Service was excellent and the whole experience lived up to expectations.
We would recommend that anyone interested in fine dining and especially fish. The food is not cheap, but we both agreed that the cost reflected the quality of the restaurant.

“Absolutely superb.”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

We have eaten in many restaurants on various continents. This is, without any doubt at all, the best we have ever found. That is anywhere, any time, any type of food and at any price. As the name suggests, it is a specialist fish restaurant. The fish is absolutely fresh, well presented and beautifully cooked. Staff most considerate. Price as you would expect from a proper fish restaurant. We went in to book the day before and were lucky to get a table to eat early. Every table was booked and, as soon as people left, the table was reset and new people sat down. The reputation is obviously there and fully deserved. If you are in Torquay, you MUST go there, but make sure you book well in advance. You will not be disappointed.

“De-li-scious!!!!”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

This will be some of the best seafood you will ever have. We highly recommend the seafood platter (with lobster). It's like someone went out to the sea with a bucket and scooped up all the lovely seafood, prepared it with some of the most delicious ingredients and left it for you to stuff yourself to the gills with. I can't fault this place in any way - from the really helpful and polite staff, to the decor and of course the meal was sublime.

Make sure you book in advance as they are always busy - especially at weekends. Lush, lush, lush!!!
