Eight of us went for full afternoon Tea, to celebrate a special birthday, we booked beforehand and a table on the terrace was all ready for us, it was a beautiful day and the setting is peaceful. The service was a little slow but we were in no particular hurry, staff were friendly and the food was fresh, plentiful and very good! Would definitely go again.

We chose the Orestone Manor restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
We hadn't been before, but read the reviews here on Tripadvisor and decided to have a meal there.
Our first impressions were that the decor felt a little old fashioned, but we were warmly greeted and led to a seating area to browse through the menu whilst enjoying a drink.
Once we chose our meals, we waited a short while before being taken to our table.
The staff were attentive and polite, and the whole "process" of arriving through to dining gave a sense of them wanting you to enjoy the experience.
The meals were delicious and well presented.
The only off putting thing really, was a subdued atmosphere. When we entered the dining area as we were led to our table, it was deathly silent, apart from some light music in the background. There were 4 or 5 couples on other tables, but the room was so quiet, we were conscious of being overheard when we had a conversation . Maybe we chose a quiet night, or the other diners were feeling shy!
Overall great food, just felt a more vibrant atmosphere would have complimented our meal.
Maybe we'll go to the other extreme and try the "Fawlty Towers" night!

a very competent ham hock terrine with mushy peas ,pea bonbon ,pureed pea and piccalilli, followed by lamb rump with (slightly dry) belly, wild mushrooms and good mash finished with a well balanced strawberry cheesecake All cooked within the kitchens skills and not their aspiration. Lovely situation in Maidencombe and a very efficient and friendly foh manager,Tom.
A very enjoyable evening
