We spent a great week in the Coach House cottage. The cottage had everything we needed, the grounds and views were fantastic (2 pools, sauna, playground, swings, sheep and cows to look at on the hills, ...) and the owners were very helpful.

The place was very quiet - and spread out enough that while other guests were staying in the other cottages, we never felt on top of each other. We would definitely return.

My wife, three year old son and I stayed in Yennadon for a week. Can't really fault it!

Room: Yennadon ideal for us (the lounge/ eating area might have got a bit cosy with 4). Nicely done out, good kitchen, balcony quite private, having a BBQ was a nice touch.

Facilities: Excellent, my son loved the indoor and outdoor pool. Lovely playground- all wooden, not a garish plastic slide in sitght. He was too young for the tennis court but did attempt to play with the basketball kept at one end. The softplay area and pool table is a nice touch if the weather's dodgy. We were outside of the school holidays, but I think the rooms were all full- however it was never crowded.

Area: I didn't really know Devon before and it was a bit of a revelation! Dartmouth was stunning. Use the park and ride so you can stay all day, explore Kingswear and get the steam train to Paignton. It rained for a couple of days so we went to Paignton Zoo and Pennywell Farm. Totnes is worth a visit too.
It is in the middle of nowhere, take a proper map, we relied on the iphone and got lost at first because we had no reception.

We stayed in the Hayloft – a delightful and secluded apartment in a newly constructed garage barn complete with integral wooden beams. A wonderful place to relax in what is a quiet and peaceful valley. Gitcombe House has fantastic views across the Devon countryside. Whether you are 6 or 60 Gitcombe is a wonderful place to either simply contemplate life or explore the beautiful countryside. We enjoyed, a great welcome on arrival, the heated swimming pools (in June), visited the nearby riverside pubs and several first class restaurants in Dartmouth. (No check in lines, no security checks, no flight delays, no lost baggage and no jet lag - need we say more!! Best mini break for years.

We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary by taking the family - two sons, wives and three grandchildren to Gitcombe House Country Cottages during half-term week. We were not disappointed: we found the two cottages that we booked - Maristow & Yennadon Barn very well
equipped, clean, modern and nicely decorated. The location is ideal for exploring the area and the scenery is stunning.

The facilities are excellent - the grandchildren had fun in the indoor and outdoor swimming pools - which are comfortably warm; we all enjoyed using the tennis court. It was great having so many thoughtful items on site that made the stay so pleasurable - from the American fridges with ice-makers to fishing lines for crabbing at local Dittisham. There are some good eating places nearby - try the Anchorstone Cafe in Dittisham for great seafood - it was reviewed recently in the Saturday TImes.

You will get a warm welcome from the owners and the staff of Gitcombe House Country Cottages who are friendly and helpful. A great location for a family holiday.

I went with some trepidation to the Hayloft at Gitcombe this Easter, after reading some of the reviews on this site. Imagine my surprise when we arrived, slightly worn out from a long drive from London with a tired 18-month old, at an idyllic piece of Devon countryside. My partner and son immediately went off exploring the grounds while I walked up the steps to our accommodation. I discovered a little piece of heaven - a beautifully decorated interior, light, spacious, airy with all mod cons and a better equipped kitchen than my own. As for the noise - we didn't hear any loud revving engines early in the morning, just the dawn chorus. Would I go again - YES. Please don't be put off by any other reviews. We found the owners to be perfectly pleasant and the place was incredibly child-friendly and perfectly situated to explore the South Hams.
