Having traveled to Totnes from Plymouth for a valentines day treat my partner and I decided to try Fat Lemons as we're both vegetarian, however we were quite disappointed. The falafels weren't fried and rather than being served in a pitta bread with chili and tahini and garlic sauce they were just on a plate with a bit of hummus some pittas and a sad looking salad, could have made better myself! Also there is only one toilet which you have to collect a key for at the till, I had to wait in a queue for ages.

Its a great shame that you felt compelled to write this review without coming to talk to us at the time that you visited our cafe. We are a family run independent business and take such reviews very personally.
With regards to your comments, the falafel are homemade by us, we prefer to bake rather than deep fry because its a lot healthier and customers have commented on how nice and tasty they are, the houmous is again made by us and is not bought in and we try and make the salad interesting with our own honey and mustard dressing along with a selection of sprouted beans.
We have just added to the dish a chilli and garlic sauce and apologies this wasn't on our menu at the time.
The comment about the toilet being locked, we do this for one reason and thats for the benefit of our customers, because of the position of the toilet we are unable to keep a close eye on it from inside the building and it was being used by a lot of people that weren't our customers and was being left in a poor state, since locking this has given our customers a much better experience, with regards to just one toilet, we are a small business and that's all we are able to provide.
We would love you to return to our business and enjoy your experience as most other customers do.

It was half term this week, so Fat Lemons was open on a Monday! (Normally closed.) My other half thinks that a meal isn't complete unless it has meat in it. However, we had the soup and sandwich deal and both enjoyed the spicy lentil soup - so much so that my other half is going to try his hand at the spiced carrot, lentil and coriander soup that is in this week's newsletter from Riverford.

The bread (from Shaldon Bakery) was lovely. Couldn't fault any part of our light lunch.

Staff were friendly, and it was cosy inside.

The cakes looked lovely, so maybe next time we will drop in for coffee and cake.

On and off we've been customers over a number of years. Today we stopped off for lunch, there was a nice selection. My parents asked for a cheese, mushroom and tomato omelette. Apparently they only serve a cheese, mushroom or cheese and mushroom omelette... You couldn't have any tomato in it. This led us to wonder whether they were pre-prepared or something. This was obviously not the case when they arrived, accompanied by a small salad. Containing tomatoes!
Why not use those and keep the customer happy?

A beautiful place!! Quite location. Lovely plants around the house. Perfect homebaked lemon scones and tasty coffee. Warm indoors and open outdoors are both lovely. Will definitely go there again.

The coffee here is fantastic (the best we have found in Totnes) and the outside seating area is an absolute pleasure.
