On moving to Totnes and trying many places- I had heard many wonderful comments in trying the Sunday roast here. To which me and my family did and it was very good. Great value but I would have happily paid more - lovely location nice atmosphere and on seeing the other dishes being served I will most defiantly be going back. I truly recommend a very good chef that takes care in the food served and making you happy. Good fresh ingredients nicely cooked and very tasty.

Without a doubt the best in town. Over the 27 years that I have lived in Totnes and visited most of the Pubs and Inns in the surrounding area, this Chef Chris Gardner takes the gold. Quality and value for money, Locally sourced Meat served to your choice of rareness, Vegetables cooked to perfection and served individually....Beautiful Yorkshire puddings and boatfulls of gravy. Served with a smile in an informal environ which makes for easy digestion. The Deserts are top notch...
and the rest of the menu looks great too. Definitely worth going out of your way for Especially after a long weekend!

Wow! I am still trying to think of superlatives to describe our Sunday lunch there! On Sunday 2nd March we saw that locally-sourced beef was on the menu. The Bull Inn is a traditional-looking pub and once inside we were met with a very warm welcome. We ordered the roast beef and it promptly arrived. Now I am speechless. The tender beef was generous and cooked to utter perfection. The two Yorkshire puddings were HOME MADE (!!) and crisp; the roast potatoes the best they can be. The gravy was bursting with taste and it was served with fresh carrots on piping hot plates. It looked magnificent but perfectly presented on the square white plates. Then the fresh veg arrived. One dish per person (!) with perfectly buttered fresh cabbage, perfect broccoli, and excellent cauliflower cheese. Two separate dishes of English mustard and horseradish sauce (no nasty little plastic packets). Utterly delicious, expertly cooked, the finest freshest ingredients you would serve at home. Where else would you find this? Simpsons in the Strand? Why bother going to London and paying ridiculous prices when this modestly-priced pub offers everything the discerning foodie could want and in a lovely town too. Quite the best roast dinner we have enjoyed in a very long time and we eat out a great deal.

I came to this pub open minded about having food. Like all places I dwell on, I give the benefit of the doubt and this certainly paid off.
I decided to go for the beef on the options offered and happily received a plate filled with very appetising food.
I thank you Chef for you have definitely made me wish to return, roast beef cooked to perfection (medium to rare) along with a plate not to over filled which in my mind is presentable.
Return I shall.
