Our second visit to Hengistbury Head and Mudeford spit
Totally wonderful place I only wish I could afford one of the beach huts. They change hands for 130k+ for a hut 12ft square, no electric or running water. Still totally envious of the lifestyle here, a real oasis to totally escape to ( if only we lived closer)
Simply drive along Southbourne sea front to the end and park in the large car park. Walk up to the head and down to the huts not a difficult walk at all. Or take the ferry from Christchurch or the quay opposite
Plenty to see in the harbour and the other side of the sandbank looking directly at the Isle of Wight, the water is crystal clear
Then to save your legs take the mini train back up to the visitors centre £ 1.20 each way for adults, runs constantly until 7pm
A wonderful way to spend a day/half a day just chilling

The land train was lovely to go along to Mudeford Spit. The ice cream shop sells really yummy local ice cream - would recommend it!

Hengistbury Head is a good alternative to Bournemouth beach. The beach is pretty clean and tidy, the water is clean and clear, although at low tide the waters edge is covered in large pebbles so makes waking barefoot almost impossible. Also the beach is dog friendly, and although the vast majority of owners keep their dogs under control the odd few let them run riot, makes you wonder how many "surprises" could be hiden under the sand!

A must see and visit, Go to mudeford quay and get the ferry across, its like you have entered into a different world. It takes 5 minutes to get from civilistaion to Robinson crusoe land.
The beach huts all look great. Its nice to have a walk around and just take it all in. Theres a lovely beach bar/restaurant with great views over the harbour to Christchurch.
You realy must go to Henghisbury if you are going to Mudeford, Christchurch and even Bournemouth. Well worth a visit.

Well worth a visit for the more active holidaymakers who like a good walk along the promenade- plenty of facilities enroute including the holiday trains for the less active. This is quieter and less commercial part of the region and near to Mudeford and Christchurch.
