“Interesting views and visitor centre”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 November 2013

A nice walk from Southbourne, with good views and an interesting Visitor's Centre full of information on the wildlife and history of this site. It is adjacent to Christchurch and there are ferries.
Nice and quiet in the winter, but there is a large carpark nearby so during nice weather it can get busier.

“Lovely views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2013

Some lovely walks & beautiful views. Worth walking to spit to see the quirky beach huts & head to the cafe for a coffee. Great when the crowds have gone!! A place to escape. A dog walkers paradise.

“Walkers Paradise but good for non walkers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

If you love nature, this is the place to be. Great walk and nature points all the way along. Brand new from December a visitors centre that is very informative. There is a road train for non walkers and those who feel they deserve a break that gives everyone a chance to see around this area. There is a very nice restaurant just off the car park that does a very good selection of meals and snacks. Parking is expensive in the summer but the winter rates are very reasonable. If you do walk up to the top point you are rewarded with great views of the Needles at the tip of the Isle of Wight in one direction and Christchurch and Mudeford in the other

“Great for walkers and families”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

Walking to the top of Hengistbury Head it is possible to sit and admire the view with nobody around. Down at the bottom is a car park and café. There is also a land train which runs to Mudeford Spit.

“Great views across to the needles on the IOW”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

This is a nice place to go for a walk that encompasses some different habitats, from the beach to the south to the harbour and marsh lands at the north of the head.
It can get windy on the head so in the winter wrap up warm!
There's a flat area of grassland before the car-park at the head suitable for kite flying.
If you drive a campervan/large vehicle then park at the furthest car-park away from the visitor centre as the one nearest the centre has a height bar on it. Motorbike parking is right next to the visitor centre loos - very convenient!
