Bed & Breakfast by the Beach

We have stayed in all four of the rooms in this b&b, and each one is wonderful. Always a warm welcome received from the hosts, and offers of help with luggage. It is easy to park at this establishment which is located in a pleasant and peaceful road, within walking distance of a very nice beach.
Bedrooms are beautiful, with luxurious beds and have spotlessly clean en-suites which are superbly equipped and have large, fluffy towels.
The extras provided such as bottled water, biscuits and home-bakes are a lovely treat, and the hospitality trays are stocked with a vast choice of refreshments. Lovely seasonal flowers and magazines help one to feel at home. Fresh milk is a must for us, so the refrigerator is appreciated. We needed to avail ourselves of the sewing kit and umbrella supplied for guests' use and were grateful that they were available.
The breakfast on offer is so delicious that it is difficult to pick out any favourites, but the homemade bread, yogurt and preserves are a perfect compliment to the fresh fruits and cooked breakfasts. All served in a sunny, contemporary dining room overlooking the garden.
Thank you, John and Chris, for providing such a pleasant home-from-home to all guests. You have got it right.

On arrival was met by John and Chris and shown to a beautifully decorated bedroom and spotlessly clean. John and Chris made me feel very welcome and if I needed anything just to ask them. Bathroom was super, soaps, shampoos, lovely fluffy towels and hot water !! Breakfast was the most delicious feast! Cooked beautifully and a lovely bright and light room over looking their garden to sit and enjoy the breakfast. Super home made jams and marmalade!
Can't wait to go back and hopefully spend longer!

Room Tip: I think any of the rooms would be excellent and it is beautifully quiet there, no traffic noise just...

We recently stayed at Christine and Johns wonderful B&B with our 6 month old twins. Our stay was a pleasure, the room was spacious even for our family of four. The bathroom was pristine and the bed was so comfortable. There were so many special touches to enhance our stay, from the wine glasses and snacks to the waffle robes and sparkling water. The breakfast was a real treat, homemade bread and marmalade are a must. (There was even a daily special of waffles and eggs.) Chris and John were full of helpful of advice regarding the local area and we had a lovely walk at Hengistbury head. I would highly recommend Burtley Manor to anyone.

Had seen this place on four in a bed, and wasn't wowed by it back then, but saw that it had won a tripadvisor aware for this year, so thought we would give it a go.
John greeted us at the door and showed us to our room - offering to carry our bags of course! Room was nicely decorated (though trust my husband to notice the spot of missed paint behind the wardrobe!), and had some lovely little extra touches such as a jar of rocky road, bottles of water, and fresh flowers to name just a few bits! I was slightly worried as in the afternoon, the room seemed quite noisy with traffic outside, but at night I didn't hear a thing.
The hospitality was amazing and Chris and john made us feel so welcome, with some good friendly banter.
Breakfast was another highlight - a good selection of fresh fruit, and a daily offering of fruit smoothies, and the cooked breakfast was amazing.
Overall a very good and enjoyable stay, though just one word of advice (and not sure what the other rooms are like), but be careful in room 4 if you a vertically blessed - hubby is just under 6ft and his feet stuck out the end of the end, and he said he couldn't fit under the shower very well - though it was fine for a couple of nights.

Hello

Thank you for your lovely review. I agree with your comment about the shower it is a static rainfall shower in the bath, which our plumber who is vertically challenged (around 5ft 3") put up and was very happy with his job !!! John changed it to make it full height.
The bed was featured in "Four in a Bed " but we removed the kick board and sent part of it to Kathy & Ian who were with us on the show to put up in their pub in Wales, with a sign on saying "Awarded to the runner up in Four in a Bed". They were thrilled and it proved to be a great talking point with their customers. The bed is now a normal 6ft 6" length. It was lovely to meet you both and sorry the weather was so grim. We hope you come back when the weather is better to enjoy the beach. Our largest room is Room 1 which is on the south side of the building overlooking the garden.

These lovely people look after you like you are family. They are really wonderful hosts. John met us at the door, insisted on carrying our bags and even gave us a lift to our evening restaurant. The rooms are beautifully furnished and every possible convenience is ready and waiting for you. The bathroom was immaculate. The breakfast was an extensive spread of fresh fruit and a wide choice of cooked breakfasts and specialities. I wish we lived here! Thank you Chris and John.

Another fantastic stay at Bed and Breakfast by the Beach. The weather was wild and windy but this sure is a homely cosy place to stay in Winter (I would say base but it's more than that). It was a struggle to get out of bed though as It was so comfortable
Keep up with the hard work John and Chris and thanks for the little touches that get better every time.
Andrew and Gary :-)
