“Christmas 2011”
Reviewed 4 April 2012

My friend and I booked a christmas break at The Green House from the 24th to 28th December 2011. We arrived in the afternoon to be greeted at Reception by a pleasant and friendly member of staff. We were shown to our room, which was outstanding, Our intinerary was explained as was the fact that the hotel provided no entertainment (which we knew and one of the reasons why we booked the hotel). Came down and went into the bar for a coffee again greeted by a smiling, friendly member of staff, and so the theme continued. All the staff seemed genuinely pleased to see guests, who were always greeted with a smile; they were helpful and informative as to what was going on in and and around Bournemouth over the festive period. The evening meal was delicious, 4-5 courses, classed as a "Taster Menu", so smaller dishes, appetizer size, but more than enough and finished with tea or coffee. Breakfast was buffett style for the cereals, breads etc, and what a choice, followed by a hot selection which was taken from the menu and cooked to order. Christmas Day lunch had to be seen to be believed! It consisted of 6 courses, perfectly cooked and presented, again a "Tasting Menu" but what a delight. A buffet followed in the evening, again freshly prepared and served in the bar/lounge. Our room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. It was serviced every day, yes, even Christmas Day. The hotel has plently of parking, is a 2 minute walk from East Cliff and the beach and about a 10 minute walk from Bournemouth town centre. My friend and I will definitely be going back to The Green House and would recommend it to other trip advisor users.

We stayed here last weekend for our anniversary and did the 'Lazy Sunday' package which included bed and breakfast, a 7-course taster menu in the evening (which was wonderful) and a glass of Prosecco in the bar on arrival. We were upgraded to a gorgeous room which was immaculately furnished and decorated almost entirely with products that were designed, built, and manufactured in the UK.

We really loved this place. The Lazy Sunday package for around £125 is a really good deal. The taster menu alone for 2 people would cost £100.

The hotel is a short walk from the centre and the beach but in a seemingly quiet area (away from the hen and stag weekends). The decor is stylish - farrow and ball, lots of interesting fabrics, reupholstered chairs and stripped wooden floors. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. A warm, stylish, romantic hotel.

A pleasant enough hotel but overpriced and definitely average in many aspects. The hotel is well situated and has reasonable parking. Booking in was efficient and friendly however the room was quite small ( it was not one of the 'small' rooms...goodness know how cosy they are!!). Storage space was lacking.Only one drawer . Fine for a short break but not for a longer holiday. Towels were no more than adequate and having to go to a communal fridge for milk is a bad idea. Sound insulation is not good either. Light sleepers beware.
Food is good and reasonably priced. However breakfast as reported in minimalist and it was annoying that plates were not getting cleared by overworked staff ...too many guests on a Sunday morning for them to cope with.
Overall whilst the hotel is well furnished and decorated it has far too many problems to make it reasonable vale for money. In a place like Bournemouth it is easy to find better.

Stayed 2 nights for a wedding anniversary celebration. Had one dinner and two breakfasts, wished we'd done the other dinner too - superb food! Seriously top-notch cooking and slick service. Very reasonable prices at dinner as well. Room was really nicely appointed and well maintained. Hotel interiors in general very stylish. Eco-consciousness in all things a real feature, strongly pursued without being overdone. Staff totally on-the-ball and friendly. Quibble - internal noise from hall and adjoining rooms - quite sleep-disturbing at times. Would/will go back, but will request room on seaward side.

Room Tip: Rooms on the seaward side probably quieter and apparently may have sea views (on upper floors).

The room was clean with nice modern decor. They have lots of energy saving gadgets. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The only downside was the small portions of food that was very good but expensive. One soft drink was £5.50! I'm not sure how they can justify that?

I stayed at the Green House with my 10 year old daughter for a treat as I was taking her to a gig for her birthday. The hotel is lovely - stylish, great eco credentials, great staff, lovely food and feels like home. I really, really want to go again
