We stayed for just one night in a double room. The actual room was very small, the lighting poor, there were no chairs until we asked for two to be placed in the room. The was a small wardrobe but no drawers, which would be neccessary if you stayed for longer than a couple of nights. The Hotel was very concerned with its eco and green policy but unfortunately did not think from it's guests point of view, how for example to fill the eco-kettle without getting soaking. There was no-where to put anything and the mirror was a freestanding mirror of about 7inches high. There were 2 other mirrors in the room but it was too dark to use them for putting on make up etc. There was only one small window which when opened let in a little air but after about 12 midnight we had to shut this as there was a wedding party who were very loud and the bar was underneath our room.

I understand that this Hotel would be ideal for a wedding venue, but think it would only be fair if on a Saturday night other guests were told at the time of booking that this would be the case. We phoned reception at about 12.30 am but there was no reply.

The restaurant however was so very good with an inovative menu beautifully presented and cooked. The restaurant staff were superb.

The reception staff were also very helpful and cheerful and when we informed them that we did not sleep during the night offered a small refund, which was a very good gesture.

Room tip: If possible ask for a large double st least and bare in mind that the bar is on the right hand side of the Hotel

5 of us had dinner last night at the Green House Hotel. Three of the party were staying as guests of BU and two of the party (including me) were there for the dinner.
The food was excellent from start to finish and each of us enjoyed the 3 course menu. The wine was also very enjoyable and a second bottle had to be opened!
Much of the discussion at the table was about the hotel and the food in particular. I know that our guests certainly would not now stay in any other hotel in Bournemouth.
The focus on local, sustainable and fresh is apparent and perhaps adds to the quality of the whole experience. The service was excellent with Kristina (?) looking after us all evening. If I had to criticise anything it would be that the dining room is a little loud due to the wooden floor, wooden tables and no soft furnishings (curtains) to absorb the sound of others talking.

Room tip: Each room is a little different. The comment on the quality of the rooms is from me being given a show round the hotel and my 3 colleagues telling me thier views from their stay over two nights.

We have stayed here twice now, once in 2011 and recently in June 2012. Both times we stayed in the Master Double room category. We paid £300.00 per room per night for a dinner bed and breakfast rate. We were very impressed with our first stay hence the return, this time with friends!

The Master Double room is a good size, with roll top bath and shower. Depending on the room you get will depend on the Sq Mtrs and shower size etc. We were very pleased with the room decor, quality of bedding and cleanness. The shower on our first stay was rather small compared to the shower in the second room we had. Just so you can imagine the comparison, the shower area on our second stay was bigger than the entire bathroom in the first room! we also agree with other visitors that the there is a lot of noise through the walls.

The hotel is boutique (small), which should mean a personal and attentive service on all levels but this was not was not the case in our experirence. Adam, was excellent on both visits, however his colleuges failed to keep up with the high standards he set.

Many of the staff here do not speak basic English which proved to be a problem. Sometimes a drink or food order was placed, met with a smile and nod and that was the last time we saw that staff member for some time, until we had to place the same request with Adam or remind the waiter / waitress.

Adam was about to leave and so our fears are that the standards will continue to slip. The main reason we are prepared to spend such a large amount of money on a boutique hotel is not just for the room, food, service etc but for the whole package and on this visit it was poor.

A few food orders were sent back at breakfast and dinner from our party. We felt that this was due to a lack of understanding of the request, rather than poor food etc.

On both visits there was a wedding party and we felt that the staff do not cope well with a full dinner service and a wedding. The service levels noticably drop when a wedding is in full flow which leaves guests feeling a bit negative as they have paid full rate and service should reflect that in our opinion.

It's such a shame to mark this hotel as 'average', however we have to be honest and not romanticise our experience. In this economy and with the £££ per room charged here they were average at best.

We hope the standards get back to 'excellent' soon as this hotel has the potential for excellence.

Room tip: Pay more for a better room catagory to fully appreciate the Green House room offering.

This was the second time we have stayed at the Green House Hotel & I just love it. We had a much bigger room last time but booked late so choice was limited. I want to tell you something horrible about this hotel so you all stay away and leave it to us - but its beautiful in every way, spotlessly clean super staff, well situated, relaxing, I could go on with superlatives but don't rely on the reviews just try it you wont be disappointed. Only slight thing did I notice was breakfast seems a little frugal compared to the lavish spread that used to be displayed in front of the beautiful bay window - even for a small eater 1/2 a mushroom is a bit on the light side but I'd still go back and hope that they have read this review and made it a whole one.... luv luv luv it

Room tip: The larger rooms for me are nicer, with both bath and shower but I'd stay in the broom cupboard and still enjoy it

A lovely hotel, very nice old building, beautiful rooms. we ate dinner in the restaurant twice, once trying the tasting menu. both meals were delicious. Breakfast was nice but not spectacular. The location was great for exploring beaches, studland, poole etc. and also near other restaurants. My only complaint was having booked the master double with a 6ft super king bed it was in fact two twins pushed together which wasn't very comfortable. i did ask for it to be changed but they could only downgrade us to a different room. Apparently they do have proper doubles so make sure you ask for one. All the restaurant and bar staff were lovely and attentive

Room tip: Ask for room facing the garden/front
