“A great, but nearly chilly, stay”
Reviewed 26 January 2013

We stayed at the Trouville Lodge and enjoyed full use of all facilities at the adjacent Trouville Hotel.

The hotel was extremely close to the Bournemouth International Centre, and we didn't even mind the steep hill on the way back!

Reception staff were extremely friendly and very helpful

Only 2 negatives. Sadly I don't recall seeing a single smile on the Waiting staff in the restaurant at breakfast this morning and we almost felt we were intruding on their day :(
Secondly our radiator in the bedroom wasn't working and despite assurances from the manager we had to pinch an electric heater to melt the icicles on our noses! The bathroom radiator worked though so that saved the day.

Breakfast was excellent with a great choice, our twin room was spotless and, after a mad dash to the shops for swimming gear, we enjoyed a pleasant swim and a lovely warm sauna.

All in all, a great weekend at a very pleasant Hotel that is central to all amenities with plenty of free parking, a bonus for Bournemouth!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the lodge have a pleasant sea view.

Booked into this hotel for one night, at first glance the hotel looked okay, although certain parts of the hotel was shabby. We checked into our room (No7) which was small and we later found out was underneath the main restaurant area. The room like most of the hotel was dated, the whole place needs a lick of paint and new carpets. The lift was very slow so I would take the stairs if you are planning to visit. We had lunch and dinner at the hotel which was very average and the vegetables had been over cooked.

We had spent the day in Bournemouth and when returned to the hotel had dinner and went to bed. We were in a non smoking room but the floor stank of smoke, the noise from the room next to us ( blaring music) and the restaurant above made it impossible to sleep. We decided to check out and go home, the reception staff never even asked us why we were checking out a not actually stay the one night we had planned.

There are plenty of other hotels in Bournemouth and I wish I had picked another, we will never stay in this hotel again.

However the staff were friendly and polite, location was parking was good.

At first site looks are good but the hotel is on a very steep hill, parking is a plenty but due to the location steps are also plentfull, on entering its clear the decor is aged and quite dull, check in was easy but directions to the room were misleading and inaccurate and only accessible via a walk outside incorporating two more flights of steps and a short walk

The room itself was amazingly small but this was not common to all the rooms as there were twelve rooms hired out in our party for four nights, on first inspection the room looked ok but well used the net curtains were dirty walls were stained a chocolate bar wrapper was still on the floor there was food pieces under the bed hairs on the pillow black spots on the bed sheets and clear sings of previous stains one half of the room where the kettle and hair dryer were located was unlit and in darkness the other mirror in the bathroom was in a corner above the toilet although it had lights built in kneeling on the toilet and the poor lighting made shaving very difficult most of the bathroom floor tiles were cracked or broken the shower tray base panel was missing, there was nowhere to hang a towel and no shelf or tray in the shower to place shampoo the radiator in the room although switched on never showed any sign of getting warm there was no phone in the room as this was located near the main entrance to our complex, there was no welcome pack and as the sink was so small the only way to fill the kettle was via the shower, all the towels through out my stay were very worn and tatty, the breakfasts were very good and so were the evening meals although on night three ordering all three courses together and then when desert was due I was told they were all gone only to see ten minutes later the table behind been served several deserts that were apparently sold out so to sum it up as this was a work related trip with a large group changing hotels would have been difficult to say the last so we will not be booking this hotel again in a hurry

Stayed here for one night in sept. 2012 as our previous hotel was a nightmare. This felt much nicer. Yes there was a bit of damp on the ceiling of the basement but it didn't smell. The room was very clean with a fridge and a microwave. It was a big room with two comfy beds which gave us a good nights sleep. Very nice waiter service breakfast which is served in the adjoining Trouville Hotel is very worth the money.

Stayed at the lodge for one night only, never to return! It is awful. You can smell mould as soon as you open the entrance door. There are rooms in the basement which feel and smell damp.

How can you run a hospitality business and get the basics so wrong?!

A few words of advice - stay somewhere else!
