“Dance Weekend”
Reviewed 18 March 2013

I have just spent a lovely weekend at the Mayfair Hotel with the Wendy Baker School of Dance. A lovely friendly group of people. The hotel was clean and rooms were decorated very well. Nice hot shower/bath and comfortable bed. Friendly, accommodating staff. Lovely food and plenty of choice. Excellent value for money and not to far from the town so you can do lots of retail therapy.

If you wanna take your dancing friends away, this is the hotel to use, they have a dance floor for 30 Ballroom dancers to fit on, so nice and cosy, the food is excellent, and the rooms we have used so far have been good, though I do hear that some are about to be upgraded, great to hear they are going from strength to strength , they are doing their very best, staff are very good, have been going there with our dancers for 6 years now, price is good for a group booking, our next visit is April 2013, come with us if you are dancers and check the hotel out, am sure they will do their very best for you,

Room Tip: rooms at the back are quieter,

This is a hotel of two halves. The rooms are awful, peeling wallpaper, polystyrene ceiling tiles, small beds, leaking showers, way too hot as the central heating system is almost impossible to control. Why do we put up with rooms like this (I see this sort of bog standard offer everywhere on my travels)? HOWEVER....the staff couldn't be more helpfull and the food was excellent. Make of this what you will.....

Having stayed at the Mayfair before, we had no qualms about using the hotel for an overnight stop, again.
The location of the hotel is very good, and our room (15) was clean and fairly spacious. Every member of staff we met were polite, and welcoming.
We had the Full English, which was very good value, and well cooked.......much better than we have had at more expensive locations.
Another thing the hotel had was free parking, which some hotels are now charging a lot for.
All things considered, we will use the hotel again!

We booked this hotel through their website and payed £22 for a night. The initial room that we were given on the first floor was a bit noisy as the floorboards are creaky and the walls are thin. They kindly moved us to a quieter room onthe top floor. The room and sheets were clean and the beds comfortable. There was a bath and shower with sachets of showergel and shampoo. There is a haridryer and tea making facilities. The location was very good, a few mintues walk to restaurants in the centre and about 10-15 minutes to the beach. We would stay again.

Room Tip: Top Floor for quiet rooms
