I have now seen a lot of the reviews posted for the hotel and would somewhat disagree, we as a couple visited the hotel for the first time in September 2012 as a treat for my 50'th birhday and if we had taken note of the reviews posted we probabley wouldn't have gone. However we did, and how glad we were we had a brilliant time the staff were attentive and extremely friendly and hard working, special mention to Brett who parked our car etc. (just need to treat them how you would like to be treated).

We have now returned on group-on and found that to be an amazing deal you can't go wrong and the staff where just the same absolutley excellent, okay the hotel may need a little bit of TLC but who goes away for a relaxing break to take pictures of paint peeling off banisters it's all about other things !!.

We had stayed in the Royal Bath a few times. It was the best hotel in Bournemouth. However that was before its takeover by Britannia hotel group. What a shame! Food was poor - quantity over quality. Any nice frills have gone to save money. It's a great travelodge and if that's what u want then great but it was such a shame to see cobwebs, mass catering, slamming of doors, no toiletries, having to pay for a towel in the pool (doubt the pool will be open for long as they will see it as an expense).

It's such a wonderful location and was so fantastic before the takeover. Felt sorry for the building and for what it once was.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Royal Bath Hotel, we do appreciate guest feedback and comments. The charge for the pool towel has always been a £1 even when it was aDe Vere Hotel and when asked we do urge guests when booking to bring their own swimming towel so they don't have to pay for hirer. As you know we have been taken over by Britannia Hotels, they intend to invest a large amount of money into the property after years of lack of investment by the De vere group and refurbishments have already started.
Thank you again for taking the time to review our hotel and we hope you will give us the opportunity to rectify your impression of the Royal Bath Hotel in the near future.

looking at all the reviews i didn't want to go.
But i'm glad i did. This was bought for us for xmas groupon deal.We parked next door £12.50.Went into reception to be greeted by a lovely receptionist. The hotel is grande when you walk in.Went to our room what a suprise it was lovely must of had a refurbished one, comfortable bed,no problems apart from room was very hot.
We then had afternoon tea, this was also lovely, sandwiches warm scones and selection of cakes.I then went for my spa treatment, the swimming pool looked inviting but didn't have time to use it .Holly did my treatment it was very nice, she was lovely and made me feel relaxed. We then went for a walk, the hotel was in a excellent location near to everything .Went for our 2 course meal and bottle of wine it was very nice. there were people complaining because of service and running out of food, but we had no complaints. Breakfast was lovely it was buffet plenty there, Couldn't fault the staff they were all very nice and polite .So all in all we enjoyed every minute of it and would return. Hope this helps.

Firstly, this is no longer a De Vere hotel it was sold last year.

If you are thinking of staying hear before end of March 2013 go to the Brittania hotels website there are some deals which will give dinner, bed and breakfast! Free bottle of wine for about £55.

A super good deal at this price, but dont think I would pay much more.

As some of the reviews have stated, some of the staff are good and others bad, total confusion in the breakfast room, the staff did not seem to know what job they were supposed to be doing. Had to ask everytime you wanted a tea or coffee.

The heating in the rooms does not come on till 5pm although some rooms do have some portable heaters. Our first room was very drab and the tv was not working but we were moved to another room which was much better and on the beach side of the hotel and was brighter and warmer.

Parking for the hotel is available for £12 for 24 hrs however it is the same price at the nearest public car park. Be aware that the hotel carpark can be full and they may not let you park a large 4x4 if there is not much space.

The dinner included was very tasty but my wife and I had to eat out later in the evening as the portions were very small.

Overall the hotel is very dated so dont be fooled by the entrance and the reception areas.

So if you get a good deal this hotel is reasonable for the money otherwise give it a miss as it is a bit depressing but you dont mind so much if you have saved a few pounds.

Room Tip: Pay extra for seaview rooms

The building is lovely and in a wonderful position. We had a top room with balcony and it was large with very comfortable bedding. However, the bathroom was tiny, cramped and in need of a major makeover. For the price of the room I would have expected something far more salubrious than this! Also, be aware that parking is either £20 per night at the hotel or £12.50 at the nearby NCP car park. Not mentioned when booking. I also paid £45 'administration charge' to change my booking as the snow meant I could not travel on the original date. There is a £2 charge to settle bill by credit card. Breakfast was OK but not great, buffet style. Disappointed that we were only offered one cup of coffee and not a pot or a re-fill. Also, when we arrived, and for most of the evening, empty wine bottles and room service were in evidence outside many rooms and a net curtain was off the window lying on the floor all day and the next morning in the hallway outside of our room. Not a good impression overall.

Room Tip: Sea view is best but you will pay for it! And do remember the extras, parking, credit card surcharge...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for the Royal Bath Hotel. We appreciate guest's comments and feedback. We do have to charge for the car park as it valet and secured parking with CCTV. I do apologise for the impression which you got when you first arrived, I shall be speaking about this matter with the room service team as the corridors should be kept clear.
Thank you again for taking the time to give us feedback on your visit.

We took a short break in Bournemouth to enjoy the good shopping and a trip out to Swanage using the chain link ferry at Sandbanks. The hotel remains as a typical grander seaside hotel encountered in the heyday of the British seaside holiday. The room was spacious and clean but showing signs of needing some refurbishment as the door lock was stiff to operate and the shower mixer tap didn't alter the water temperature from very hot. We had afternoon tea in the lounge which was pleasant although there was a little wait but the sandwiches and cake were good and the scones were nicely warm with clotted cream and jam. We also ate in the restaurant which was busy which caused some delays. The food was well cooked and prepared but we ordered white wine (Pinot Grigio) which was served at room temperature and, at first, not even with an ice bucket. However, to be fair, the bottle was replaced with another that was cooler and soon chilled down in the ice bucket that was produced. Overall, as this was a reduced price short break, the hotel was good and comfortable, if in need of some redocration, and could be considered a little pricey if having to pay the full amount for a stay.
