I moved from Bournemouth 4 years ago and have to come back as and when, so I remember the roundhouse when it was in a somewhat better condition, my folks stayed there 20 years ago and it was not bad...But think that was the last time it had a redecoration to be honest.
The place is a dive, the public areas are ok, but when you start walking around the corridors, you just just know its going to be grim.
The room was dirty as in many years or total abuse by guests and no love and care from the people who run it...The bed linen and towels along with bathroom clean at surface level, but the rest of it was grim.
Carpets stained, the two chairs were stained, crappy chipped woodwork with yes you guessed more stains, I felt dirty staying in the room...BUT I knew if I complained I would get no where, the staff functioned but were surly and quite superior in their manner.
I had an inside room with looked onto the other internal rooms so no view and really dire acoustics.
All its good for is hens and stags who do not really give a toss where they stay.
I could not get out of there fast enough and would never consider a Brittania hotel again, they really just do not care.
Did not even entertain food.
There are loads of nice guest houses with the personal touch and I will stick with them in the future.
Heed the reviews folks there are too many of us saying the same thing...

Room Tip: Don't book a room is my advice...

Situated right in the center, the hotel provides all the basic stuff. Being close to the beach is an advantage.
The hotel definitely needs a redo but I found the staff very helpful.
I was unhappy with my first single room so they upgraded me to a 3 bed room which had a good view
You should definitely take a room on the outer side. Good for short stays based on charges levied.

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. they have no idea about guest experience or safety. I stayed here with my three year old daughter and they put us in a room with a door to the next room which had young guests in partying all night and trying to get in our room, when I complained the receptionist refused to tell the manager and just went off shrugging her shoulders. Also to get to the car park you have to walk up lots of steps not great with kids and all your baggage or as i was told the only other way is up the car park ramp..! there is no pedestrian access here and cars cant see you when you do. They have no concern for the safety of children here, oh and whatever you do do not tell your children off because despite the danger they put your children in they will come barging into your room without knocking and then call the police, luckily the police have common sense. The place is absolutely filthy and I dont just mean a little unkempt but rats wouldn't go anywhere near this hotel. If you do have a problem don't waste your time complaining to the manager or hotel group (Brittannia hotels) they wont reply and the head office hang up on you when you call to complain. Bournemouth is a great place to take your family and there are some great hotels there but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES STAY AT THE ROUNDHOUSE

Basic and comfortable. Furnishings could be updated such as an old, well worn settee in the reception lounge. Situated only 10 minutes walking distance from the town centre, gardens and seaside. Food choice was acceptable and cost of both drinks and food extremely well valued for a hotel. Housekeeping could be improved. Our room was not ready although reception rang up to check with housekeeping who confirmed it was ready but hoovering had not been done. We did not have any room cleaning or towels changed the following day after arrival. After notifying reception of this error they did ensure the following day that housekeeping would clean etc.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms are at the back of the hotel which is away from the main road and overlook houses and gardens.

booked a room last minute on a Friday evening, basic rooms but had everything you needed in it. Can't complain for the price we paid. Found the bed to be extremely comfortable though! good parking on site for £3 a day.
