Booked this hotel for a girly night in Bournemouth even after reading the bad reviews as it was cheap and we just needed somewhere to get ready and a bed. We were so pleasantly surprised when we rocked up. They are under new management and are obviously in the process of making more improvements. But there was no dodgy smell we were dreading after reading reviews and staff couldn't have been more helpful. Room was basic but clean and spacious and had a brand new bathroom. Breakfast was cracking. On a help yourself basis we loaded our plates up and were told to go back for more if we wated to.
We would definitely book this hotel again if we were coming to Bournemouth and for a 2 star you really can't go wrong. I don't know quite what anyone else would expect from a 2 star hotel.

My wife and I have just returned from a weekend in Bournemouth, I had left it late to book a hotel and hastily booked the Bourne Hall Hotel as there was a lack of availability in the area. I did not read the reviews made by other visitors before booking and therefore was not sure what to expect.
Plus points - price was reasonable, staff were very helpful, room was clean, bed was comfortable, breakfast was very good, location excellent being a five minute walk into the centre and free parking.
minus points - lots of stag and hen parties which is probably a problem with most hotels in Bournemouth, the price is attracting them to stay here.
Having read other reviews I agree the hotel needs some updating but I think considering the price paid for the stay it would be unfair to criticise too much. The hotel is located on a main road a few hundred yards from the town centre so it is expected that there would be noise from the road from cars or partygoers but even with the window open we were not disturbed too much.
Special thanks to Adam who was on night duty, he made a point of sorting out a couple of noisy neighbours thus ensuring our night was a pleasant quiet one, also he kept on eye on our car parked in the rear car park.

Having read previous reviews I was expecting something awful when we stayed here for 2 nights but we were impressed. It is only a 2 star hotel so it is basic, but it is also priced accordingly and has a great location. The room was clean and recently painted and the beds were comfortable. The new owners realise that there have been problems in the past, there is even a sign in reception saying that improvements are being made. We didn't eat there so can't comment on the food but all the staff we met were friendly and the whole hotel was clean and welcoming. I would recommend it for a cheap weekend place to stay if you're going to be out and about

this hotel is very tired at present and needs a lot of money spent on it. i believe there are new owners there now and i wish them the best of luck. fabulous location, the parking though limited is free, breakfast was fine and the staff really friendly. i had no towels in my room and the phone didnt work but to be honest i was only there for a night to attend a wedding nearby so it was ok for that. good value for money all in all considering what other hotels charge but im sure the tarrif will have to increase to generate money for refurbishing cant see me wanting to spend more than one night there, maybe it will change with the new owners so i dont want to be unfair to them. also i must add i had a good sea view.

Room Tip: ask for sea view

When staying here, you have to remember that it is advertised as “AA Two Star” and as such, any comments or criticisms have to be proportionate to the low rating. We stayed with a group for three nights, check-in was easy and efficient and we were able to leave our car in the slightly cramped car park at the back of the hotel. On arrival, our group reported a great variation in the quality / cleanliness of their rooms but all issues raised by them were dealt with quickly by the new management (the hotel changed hands a week ago). Our room was at the back and on one of the upper floors (served by a lift). It was quiet other than for the paper thin walls which meant we could hear the couple next door very easily. The bathroom was clean but there was no form of heating in it, the extractor fan did not work, water flow from the shower head was hardly strong enough for a shower and the bathroom door was falling off its hinges. The room itself was small but adequate for our short stay. Room furniture was old but serviceable, the bed was a reasonably comfortable small double with an extra blanket / pillows in the wardrobe (we slept very well), but the bedspread looked and felt very grubby. There were tea / coffee making facilities in the room, a hairdryer and a high wall mounted TV which seemed to have all of the freeview channels although we could not work out how to adjust the poor colour balance. Free WIFI connectivity was intermittent but when it worked, line speed was good. Breakfast was the standard “full English” offer (or less than that if you wanted) and was reasonable in quality. We ate in the hotel one evening and although the kitchen tried hard, they needed more practice at serving large groups for both the quality and temperature of the food to become acceptable. Bar prices were not excessive.

The design of the hotel means that it is definitely not disability friendly. We felt that the new owners of the hotel were very pleasant and welcoming and keen to make our stay comfortable despite the issues they faced in running a rather worn out hotel. Overall, it is tired and shabby (and with generally bad reviews on TA) but with its changed ownership, perhaps it will improve over time – the new owners have a lot to do in order to achieve this and the hotel needs significant investment. For the amount we paid to stay, it was probably worth it when compared to prices elsewhere in town but we would expect the quality of the hotel to have improved before we would stay there again.
