“Good value for money”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

I was very pleased with my stay at Bourne Hall. Yes the decor in the communal areas and the bathroom is a bit dated, but the staff are all very pleasant and helpful and our room was bright, clean and the beds were comfortable. The location is ideal, 5 minute stroll to the beach and into the town centre (although on top of a fairly steep hill so not the best if you're disabled/have small children etc.) For the price I paid, I was more than happy with the service I received. I will be returning in the summer!

Room Tip: Just make sure you run the shower for a bit before you get in for it to warm up!

We came as a coach trip from Aylesbury, we all had a brilliant time, staff were lovely and really happy with us all there even though sometimes we may have been noisy!
Rooms were comfortable and clean. Food was good and especially the breakfast.
The only fault I would say was shower on 3rd floor was not good enough to wash hair and bath took a while to fill.
Planning our next trip if they will have us :)

Booked hotel last minute for small birthday celebration, what a find so it's a little tatty, but if I wanted a refurbished all singing all dancing hotel I wouldn't expect to pay £27.50 a night! The staff are fantastic can't do enough for you, the room is clean and tidy and the location is walking distance from the beech and town centre two great nights and we have agreed we will all be back keep up the great work!

We stayed at the hotel on the 30th of December for 3 nights to see in the new year, with some friends. We had been to this hotel about 7 years ago and boy has it gone down hill, to name but a few things that are not good, there was no toilet roll in the gents near the bar the whole time we were there, even though we did tell the reception from when we 1st got there, the food was shocking we were served banana custard for dessert on our 1st night and there after it did not improve, the tables all had plastic clothes on it was like being a run down café and they were sticky to touch ( yuk), paper napkins, we were not alone on the thoughts of the food as we heard many people staying there said the food was rubbish ( breakfast scrambled eggs looked like they had been there for 10yrs!) the tomatoes run out my husband asked for more when they did come out they were COLD !, the décor needs serious updating part of the carpet on some steps near reception came away they stuffed it back up, but next day it was back down again waiting for a disaster to happen, there was no handrail in the bathroom to hang clothes on or a hook on the door and no mat for the bath itself, so when you had a shower it was very slippery, the room was not hovered the whole time we was there and we did leave for sometime to be able to clean it. the dinner options were very poor and you all at to sit down every night at 6.30pm sharp for dinner, we understand that on new years eve we all go into together, but the other nights! on the last morning the breakfast times were 7.30am to 9.30am. We arrived for breakfast @ 8.45am to find they had locked the door to the restaurant, so we had to find someone to reopen it for us to get some breakfast. they hovered round us while we were eating SHOCKING IS THE WORDS, I would use for this place DONT GO THERE

This year we have used this hotel twice once in November and then over Christmas on both occasions this family run hotel didn't disappoint, the staff couldn't do enough for us, for instance my mother-in-law had had a knee operation so couldn't go down the few steps to the restaurant so the owner set a table on ground level for our meals and waited on us attentively. The food was of a high standard from full English breakfast, evening meal and on occasions a large buffet meal mid day an unexpected extra. there was entertainment of a high standard every evening one night a guy called Peter Hammond was particularly good both funny and energetic making our last night enjoyable. George the barman stood out as a hard worker, as was all the family. Well done Bourne hall looking forward to our next time. Raymondo
