We had a marvellous stay at Langtry Manor. It is a very friendly hotel and rooms are decorated in a lovely manor. The cuisine is absolutely excellent - best duck breast we ever had. After indulging in a lovely apple and blackberry crumble, my husband wondered the following night if there was any left that he could have again. Although there wasn't any, chef pulled out all the stops and made him an individual one all to himself. He was so delighted. The history that goes with Langtry Manor is interesting with its famous tales of Lillie. Our daughter has just completed acting school so it was interesting for her to hear about the famous Jersey Lillie. A real little gem of a hotel.

Room Tip: We had a room in the Lodge as it was only a fleeting weekend stay but it was excellent.

We stayed here to celebrate my partner's birthday in July 2011, and had an excellent time.
We were in the main house, which think was definitely preferable to the place across the road particularly as there were weddings both nights and we heard a small amount of noise until 11.30ish despite being a distance away.
The room was equisite, extremely clean and was so nice to relax in. Was an excellent size plus a jacuzzi bath.
The grounds are lovely and the hotel is in a great location to explore Bournemouth, very close to the sea.
The only reason I've given it 4 rating rather than 5 was that the food and service in the restaurant wasn't quite up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. It was good but not great.
However would certainly recommend and we will return.

My husband and I stayed here for one night as we had been given an afternoon tea gift experiance, which having looked at the details and reviews of Langtry Manor we decided to treat ouselves to an overnight stay. We stayed in the small double which was actually in the hotel and not the lodge. The room is as advertised a small but clean and nicely decorated room. The en- suite was small but clean with an excellent shower. The hotel is lovely with lots of interesting information about 'Lilly Langtry' all around. It was quite like a mini museum and if you like a bit of character when you choose a place to stay then you'll love it.The afternoon tea we had was superb and we were able to take it in the small but lovely garden. Breakfast was excellent with a very good choice of hot & cold food. We found the service of all the staff superb from reception to the waiters/waitresses. Location for us was perfect not to near the centre but if you like a walk then about 10min to get there. Coming out of the hotel and turning left it was a 5-10 min walk down to the beautiful sandy beach which was lovely to walk off our afternoon tea! All in all a lovely break if you like a friendly, cosy stay somewhere with lots of character and charm.

The hotel looks beautiful - no doubnt about that, and the location is good, but it stopped there for us. We booked a premium price room that turned out to bo so small we could hardly move. It was so tiny there was no where to put our suitcase and we had to brush our teeth in the shower as the bathroom was so small we couldnt lean over the tiny sink!

When we booked we asked if we could use the lounge areas during the day as we wanted to spend time relaxing and talking and mulling over some plans. They said yes, but when it came to it they made us feel so unwlecome when were in the lounge, and made us feel a though somehow we were encroaching on their space! I felt as though I'd high-jacked someones living room, rather than I was enjoying a relaxing afternoon.

The food was dreadful. One of our party is vegetarian, so we asked for the veggie option and she was given a dry pastry circle with feta cheese crumbled on it and some rocket leaves! That was it. When we said to the waitress that we werent very happy and this was one of the worst veg meals we'd ever been give, she just shrugged. No apology, no suggestion of another dish no offer of a refund or a free drink. Just a shrug.

I really cant recommend this hotel. It was a horrible experience.

Dear Terark

Thank you so much for your comments of the beauty of the hotel, we are so very proud of it. I would also like to apologise that you experienced a stay with us in September 2010 that is so contrary to what we hope to provide. It is harder after a year for me to investigate the chain of events and I wish that I had known at the time as we would have certainly done everything in our power to ensure you a memorable say for the right reasons.

We do have an excellent new head chef who is extremely proud of his food as well as a greater choice of vegetarian options. We are truly sad that we failed during your visit and hope that one day you will give us a chance to show that this was a one off blip.
Yours truly
Tara Howard

I booked this for a romantic break and I got everything I expected. The room with the four poster bed and jaquzzi is the best. Not far from boscombe town centre and beach.
