“Murder Mystery Weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 March 2013

We treated ourselves to a weekend at Lantry Manor for the Murder Mystery Weekend & can't recommend it highly enough.
We had a four poster room in the Lodge which was beautiful. The food was excellent and we were looked after superbly. A great feature of this family run hotel is the way the guests are looked after. The family that own the hotel were there and made sure we all had everything we could have wished for.

The Murder Mystery weekend really was fun wasn't it, everyone looked great in their costumes and really got into the spirit of things. Darren the Chef will be delighted to hear that you thought the food was excellent, we think so too! We really hope to see you again, the next Murder Mystery weekend is in November and the theme will be Cambridge in the 1950's with lots of espionage...
Best Wishes, Tara and the rest of the Howard family

A group of friends of ages ranging from 13 to 82 joined the murder mystery weekend where we were highly entertained and served exquisite food. Our rooms were very cosy with plenty of character. Can't wait to return hopefully in the autumn if I can convince my husband.

If you're looking for a romantic getaway, what better place to stay than the former home of a King's mistress! I highly recommend that you get a room in the main hotel, rather than the Lodge that they also own across the street. No comparison (at least with some of the rooms). The staff and breakfast were both excellent. The King's Room (which I only peeked in) looked spectacular. If you're an old Hollywood and glamour buff, the displays regarding Lillie Langtry are interesting.

Room Tip: Definitely go for the main house -- the King's Room if you can splurge!

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. The hotel is certainly full of character and charm, we have a museum gallery perfect for the history buffs who want to know a little bit more about Lillie Langtry and the manor itself. The Kings room is perfect for a romantic treat, and we have many other gorgeous rooms to choose from in the Manor and Lodge as well.

Our son treated us to a two night stay and a treat it most certainly was. We had Room 24 at the top of the house, overlooking the garden. Very comfortable bed with lovely white linen sheets. The room was tastefully furnished in a sort of 'distressed' french style. There was a large flat screen television, and free wi-fi. The little extras were generous,; tea, coffee biscuits etc, and a bottle of spa water. The toiletries in the bathroom were of very good quality. We loved the breakfasts. The buffet table was heaving with cereals, fruit, juices, croissants etc, and the full english was one of the best we've ever had, Although our budget didn't stretch to dining at the hotel, we did treat ourselves to afternoon tea, which was absolutely delightful.
We look forward to our next visit!

Room Tip: Room 24 is at the top of the house, and for two 70-ish olds the climb was a little demanding, (but w...

Great to hear that you enjoyed your visit to the hotel, we certainly enjoyed having you stay. We are delighted that you enjoyed our sumptuous breakfast table and our Afternoon Tea treats, and Chef is happy to read that the full English breakfast is one of the best you have ever had! Be sure to ask for one of other beautiful rooms next time on a lower floor.

A very nice hotel with professional reception staff and high end dining. The hotel is quite unique and you feel you are staying in a house rather than a hotel which we find nicely refreshing to the everyday normal hotels. Rooms are tastefully decorated and had a minibar, haridryer etc. Bed very comfy.

Stayed for two nights. Both nights were peaceful as its located in a residential area with minimal traffic.

It takes about 30 minutes to stroll into Bournemouth town centre and is approx 10 minutes walk from the beach.

The bathroom did not have shower which was not a problem for two nights, but I would suggest that the extractor fan (wired into the light) is checked as its very rattly and noisy - so if you used the loo at night you wake your partner.

First morning was delicious. Second morning the kitchens had managed to run out of both porridge and waffles leaving just the cooked breakfast option. I did receive a response from the hotel management apologising that due to high demand they had run out. I think it was just a mistake and someone forgot to order enough stock in time!

So all in all a good stay.

We are thrilled that you enjoyed our unique little hotel and all it has to offer. The whole team work hard to ensure that guests feel at home rather than they are just a room number! Thank you for bringing our attention to the noisy extractor fan, and you'll be pleased to hear that this has been repaired and silenced. We hope to welcome you back to Langtry Manor soon.

Stayed here for three nights in the Kings room. Well what can I say? The staff are all very polite and attentive, the food is absolutely wonderful and the Kings room is something else. The bed is so large my wife needed a foot stool to get in it but it is extremely comfortable. The room is one of the largest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. The on-suite has a very nice double jacuzzi bath in it as well as a separate shower and his and hers sinks. It was one, if not the best, of places I have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: Book either the kings room or the gold cup room

Wow, it sounds like you love the Kings room just as much as we do! It is a fantastic room with the inglenook fireplace and feature tiles and the Jacobean Four Poster bed echoing the past and the jacuzzi bath with tv embracing the present. We hope it's not too long before we have the opportunity to welcome you again.

This pleasant 3* hotel is well situated a bit less than a mile from the railway station and about a 20 minute brisk walk from the town centre.

The building in which we stayed (Langtry Manor) is attractive, with a small garden, a pleasant bar with a real fire (at least in February), and a lovely dining room. The room in which we stayed (Oscar Wilde, no. 7) is smallish but well appointed and has a tiny bathroom which, in spite of its diminutive proportions, works very well. Tea and coffee are available in the room, and there is a good flat panel television mounted on the wall.

The staff were uniformly pleasant and eager to help, and our experience of customer service was very good indeed.

The big let-down was the food at dinner and breakfast - although it must be said that the morning porridge was excellent. Both dinners on the days that we stayed were a disappointment, but maybe the regular chef was away. Good scallops were served with lashings of pumpkin sauce, parma ham and glazed walnuts - not a nice combination. The lovely fresh piece of sea bream was equally mangled through inappropriate combinations of other ingredients. Breakfast on the day of departure was appalling - a small helping of unpleasant scrambled egg that obviously has been made some time before we ate, together with a single half cooked tomato which also appeared to have been cooked earlier.

We are by no means fussy eaters, and we have very wide experience of restaurants throughout the country, but I am afraid that these meals fell into the "average to poor" category.
