We are staying in the jersey Lilly suite which is simply beautiful. Had a fantastic nights sleep lovely jacuzzi bath and the food has been delicious. Steeped in history with friendly and knowledgable staff who have added numerous extras, flower, chocolates, birthday dessert, coffee in room with cake on arrival there is nothing not to like. 100% recommendation we already don't want to go home and would absolutely come again.

We stayed at the Langtry for our wedding anniversary and the made it special with flowers and chocolates in the room.
Our first room was no 9 which was small and the bed was very uncomfortable, however we were upgraded by Miles for the second of our two nights and were given room 22 which was lovely. We had a four poster bed, jacuzzi bath and loads of room.
The food was lovely although I would have liked a wider selection of cereals available for breakfast.
Though advertised prices were a bit high what made our stay special was the people were lovely and friendly.

Dear Guest .Thank you so much for your review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and the special attentions we provide for anniversaries, despite the hard mattress on the first night. That mattress is being changed so thank you for pointing this out.

We have a new chef and it is good to know that you enjoyed the food, I have already shared your recommendation about the choice of breakfast cereals with him.

I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again.

Recently, I experienced the excellent service the Langtry Manor provides. Together with other students from all over the world, I attended a dinner at this hotel. Miles was a perfect host and created with his team a beautiful evening. Thank you.

Got lucky and was asked to accompany my mother, who had been bought champagne tea for two as a present. Very efficiently booked in and shown to a table in this hotel full of character. Tea was supplied in copious amounts with plenty more if we wanted it. Beautiful moist finger sandwiches, with good quality fillings (smoked salmon and cucumber, home carved ham and mustard, and egg mayo). Only comment here was that only one in three were veggie, but as we'd forgotten to tell them that one of was veggie, it wasn't a problem at all. Cakes were amazing - a cherry and almond cake, and a chocolate fudge cake, both moist and very tasty. A tiny bowl of lemon cream, also very tasty, and clearly home made and still a little warm scones with jam and clotted cream, rounded off by a glass of champagne (which we could have had to start but opted to have it at the end). The hotel is clearly aimed at couples, but that didn't detract from the afternoon at all. Only minor observation is that we had to tell the waiter that we had champagne included, which should have been clear from the voucher handed over to reception (as well as the booking itself), but it was delivered when requested after that. Highly recommend it!

We are so glad that you enjoyed your afternoon treat at Langtry Manor. Please accept our apologies that you had to remind us about your glass of bubbly! Chef is more than happy to cater for vegetarians, wheat free and any other special dietary requests, simply mention at the time of booking.

Needed a hotel at the last minute as we had decided to go to the Air Festival. Searched on line, came across the Langtry Manor. A historic and quirky hotel set off from the seafront so is a little quieter with many nooks and crannies in this old manor. A warm friendly welcome from staff, who were very obliging. Our room was fine but a little noisy as it was over the kitchen, so if I go again I'd avoid that side of the hotel and room 15. Though that said it was a nice room, a decent size TV. A jacussi bath. Breakfast was good in their splendid dinning room, which must have many stories to tell from history. I wouldn't say it was tired and in need of renovation like some of the other reviews, it is an historic old building. Pleasant garden to take tea or drinks in. Would stay again...maybe next years air festival.

Have just returned from a wonderful one night stay at the Langtry Manor Hotel and am beginning to wonder if I stayed somewhere different to what some of the previous reviews have been suggesting.

We were celebrating a special anniversary and also wanted to attend the air festival so were delighted the hotel had a room available. We knew it was a 3* hotel and expectations were realistic but they were very soon exceeded. We were shown to our room by star employee Tony who should be cloned! We thought we were getting either a four poster room or jacuzzi but we got both (Grand National room). Ok the loo/sink part of the bathroom is small but who needs loads of room to use that part? Way more fun having a lux bath/shower in the room!

The room was really quiet so a good night's sleep was had and off to breakfast. Ok, it's in the building across the road but we were aware of this so no great shakes. As others have commented, the buffet selection is not extensive but it was of good quality e.g. figs, prunes, apricots infused with fresh vanilla pods, maybe 3 cereals, fresh fruit, danish pastries and a few other things but I'd rather have that than an extensive spread of random stuff that gets constantly recycled.

The main breakfast is per a menu rather than buffet which could be full English tailored to your requirements or as I had undyed smoked haddock with poached eggs (2). It was great as was the coffee.

I can't offer a complete comparison to other hotels in Bournemouth other than another supposedly 3* which we had the misfortune of staying at during a Masonic event our friends roped us into to but can safely say the Langtry Manor was way better.

Didn't dine at the Langtry due to air show (sep posting will follow on the Crab!).

Room Tip: We loved the Grand National but didn't see any others to compare it to

I had booked a two night stay with my son in an expensive master twin, the Sarah Bernhardt room, for 28th-30th August. We were in area to complete some research. After a difficult 6 hour journey, I had cheered my son, who experiences different needs and is 14, with the promise of afternoon tea, upgrading from the complimentary goodies on arrival as specified in the booking conditions. On check in,I requested afternoon tea but was told abruptly by the mature receptionist that we had supplies of tea bags in the room and that we should go there and stay there as they had a wedding on. We were informed that we would " like it better when all the guests left when we could then use downstairs." I was then informed that the dinner reservation booked for 7.30p.m. would not be honoured either due to the wedding. When asked if and when we could eat that evening the lady was extremely rude and put out. We were told we could come down and check at 8.15p.m. but must wait near reception- as we must not interrupt the Wedding. My son was very upset, he thought he must have done something wrong by recieving such a nasty reception. My son and I have never encountered such hostility anywhere on our travels or have ever posted a negative review before. We would have left immediately if we could, but Bournemouth booked solid and I needed to ensure my son was o.k. The hotel itself is rather tired and has seen better days. It is very bijou and faded, although once we had escaped and were permitted access to downstairs the food at dinner was rather good.Until the establishment adopts a policy that can accomodate either exclusivity for weddings and honour contractual holiday bookings by giving paying guests use of the facilities they are paying for, check before staying that there are no weddings on- or stay at your peril!
