My fiancée and I stayed here for one night in the Gold Cup room last week, and we were so pleased with the experience I wanted to tell you all about it! We arrived for check-in at 2pm for a romantic break, and were greeted with a very warm welcome in a lovely reception area in the main house. The check-in process was all very quick, and we had told the hotel of our recent engagement over the phone a few days before.
We were shown to our very clean room and found towels in the shape of swans on the bed, along with luxury chocolates and rose petals all over the place which gave the occasion a special feel; and the highlight of this room of course is the two-person Jacuzzi sat in the corner of the room - absolute bliss! We also arranged for a massage through a lady called Cherie, who can be contacted via the hotel, and this in itself was an amazing experience which we highly recommend! The ladies at reception even have an impressive collection of DVD's which we borrowed for use on the in-room 32" LCD TV!
We opted for the dinner package and went off to the dining room for 7pm, and sat in the lovely warm and cosy lounge area whilst choosing our meals. The restaurant manager was very welcoming indeed and even gave us both a complimentary glass of champagne which was lovely. As for the meal itself, I won't give too much away other than to say that I have been on four 5* cruises in my lifetime and never before have I been sad that my meal was finished - compliments to the chef indeed, and we can't recommend Langtry's Restaurant highly enough. Between the main and dessert courses we were even treated to another engagement present and were presented with two meringue swans with sparklers on them, and we were presented with a personalised scroll about our engagement, which took our breath away.
Overall a thoroughly enjoyable and magical experience, and we will definitely be going back in the future. Thanks to all staff at the hotel for making our special occasion that much more special.
