Excellent Hotel, staff always pleasant and helpful. Room very comfortable and spacious.
Excellent facilities. Parking was excellent always found a space. Lounge was very comfortable
plenty of seating and well stocked bar. nice patio area and gardens. Breakfast good selection but
would had preferred cooked to order. Hotel restaurant was also excellent with excellent wine list.
The Maitre D' has everything under control.

Brilliant 5 star review Alan, thank you. We used to do breakfasts to order but with over 120 guests descending for breakfast between 8.30 and 9.30 during the summer you can imagine the delays - not a good way to start the day. On the other hand with so many guests the food is all freshly cooked so in reality there is very little difference and, more importantly, no waiting!!

Best wishes and I look forward to seeing you again.

i looked at this hotel and many more and this one jumped out at me!!
we arrived and i asked the lady if i can upgrade, the receptionist said "that she will see if she can juggle people around and for us to come back later" i did mention to her that it was our wedding anniversary and i didnt mind paying for the upgrade.

we came back and we checked in, we was given room 48, we arrived on the landing to the smell of paint and walls being stripped outside our room, the painter did say that he would be finished soon.

we opened the door and i took one look at the room and said " we this too small to turn around in for 2 people"

anyway we started to unpack and my wife went to the bedside cabinet and opened the drawer to find a carton of milk that had been leaking and was going off!!

i rang reception and let her know, the ported came up along with the manager and apologized.

i said to the ported that the was so tiny and so hot that there was only a small window, the manager did say, he would get me another fan, i replied it will only blow hot air and no fresh could get through the window.

my wife then went in the shower and i said that i would wait, she got out and i had to wait another 5 minutes for the water to drain away as it was just sitting in the shower well, it did go after about 5 minutes.

we then decide that we would iron our clothes and go for something to eat, while my wife was showering i did look at some restaurants online,Blakes actually being a really good, nice restaurant.

i rang to reception as there was no iron, again the ported brought it straight away, my wife started to iron and then the iron tripped our room. the iron wires where all fr-aided.

i went o reception and told them of this, again the nice ported and a manager came to our room, the manager couldnt find the trip switch, as he was looking i said to the ported that since we arrived everything has gone wrong!!
he then said would i like to speak to the hotel manager!!

the hotel manager came straight away, Kevin his name and i must say that that he was very good! i did say that , we would check out in the morning as this was terrible

no excuses where made and he apologized and offered us a meal at Blakes restaurant in the hotel, the meal was good!

i woke the next day and went to reception and they offered us another room, we went to this room and it was 1000 times better than room 48!!

i must say that all the staff, Justin the porter, Kevin the manager where very helpful!

at no point was a refund offered to us for the first night which i found shocking!!

the rest of the hotel was spotless!! i guess what im trying to say is, " if your a couple or family, dont stay in room 48!! if your single and there is a single bed in there.. then fine you will have a great stay!!

i must also say that if we had , had the different room from the start, then the hotel was fantastic!!

Room Tip: dont have room 48!!

Dear Martin

A catalogue of errors so please accept my sincere apologies. How pleased I was however that our team responded appropriately all turned out well in the end - thank you for that.. Complimentary dinner for 2 in Blakes was our way of compensating you for your troubles.

Best wishes

We were a group of 3 couples using the hotel as a base to play golf at Ferndown and Parkstone. The Connaught has attractive public areas with a spa, free parking and access to the internet,The maitre d' looked after us well reserving a nice table for 6 at breakfast and dinner for the group. We all thought the food was of good quality and value. The only gripe was that the toaster was slow.In general, the staff were good humoured and helpful.Slightly puzzling were the the differences in the bedrooms as regards to size although we all paid the same. The beds varied in size also.
The hotel is close to the seafront and to shops and other restaurants of all types.
We would certainly use this hotel in our next visit to Bournemouth.

Many thanks David for taking the trouble to write your excellent review. The lovely thing about being built in 1851 is the fact that the rooms are nearly all different and not little boxes. We do try to classify the larger ones and those on the top floor with a balcony as Superior and then there are the executives (slightly larger again) with robes, slippers and complimentary sweets and water and finally the two suites. A good selection from which to choose - hopefully!!!

Best wishes and we look forward to seeing you again.

We came to see Paloma Faith on Wednesday and decide to stay for 3 nights.
Great hotel breakfast very good staff very helpful
Amenities great
The only complaint I would have is the mattress on the bed is so soft I suffer with a bad shoulder and back and the mattress is very very soft. I spoke to the receptionist who informed me all the mattresses were new so if you don't mind this that's great.
Rooms are ok but could do with a makeover bathroom smells damp.
Haven't slept well for 2 nights so will be glad to go home to a decent mattress.
But we have had a great few days away.

Room Tip: Don't have room 16 mattress to soft

Many thanks for the review Dawn and hopefully you enjoyed the concert. Mattresses are very personal, especially when you have a bad back and shoulder. If you let me know the room that you occupied I will take a look and deal with it if the mattress is the problem.

Best wishes and hopefully you are on the mend!

We are fairly regular visitors to Bournemouth and The Connaught, and its always an enjoyable experience. This particular visit was for a charity sky dive from 15,000ft in Salisbury (and yes they do have hotels in Salisbury, but maybe not as friendly) As usual the staff were polite and courteous throughout our stay, but we thought that the morning of our sky dive where we were up at 5am was particularly impressive. I believe the breakfast starts at approx. 7am, so when we went downstairs at 5.20am we didn't expect anything. We asked the guy on reception if we could maybe grab a cup of tea, next thing we know he opened up the breakfast area, showed us to a table and couldn't do enough for us. So after cereal, toast, juice, pastries, and to top it all off a sausage sandwich to go, (even though the kitchen was closed) we were set for what we can only describe as one of the most memorable days of our lives. Many thanks to ALL staff at The Connaught.

Anyone jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft at 15,000 ft deserves his "last breakfast" no matter what the time - well done Garry!! Many thanks for the review and hopefully we'll get to see you again soon.

Stayed there for one night with my wife prior to seeing Paloma Faith at the BIC which was 5 mins walk away (she was superb by the way!).
The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous throughout. The room was well kept, we even treated ourselves to room service breakfast.
Ample space for parking. Before we left we also made use of the leisure facilities using the pool, sauna and jacuzzi- all very nice and relaxing.
I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking to stop over in Bournemouth.
