We have just returned from a 12 night stay at this lovely hotel. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by reception staff, who were very kind, polite and efficient. The porter also helped with our luggage, in which we did have a lot of.The room smelt very clean and airy, the bathroom was spotlessly clean, which is very important to us.Clean towels provided daily if required. Unfortuately there isn't air conditioning, but there was a fan inside the cupboard. This was most welcoming as the bedroom did get rather hot, especially end of July into August 2014. But our weather has got a lot hotter and with the storms we have been having. Breakfast was 7am until 10 am Monday to Friday, and on Saturday & Sundays it was 7.30 am to 10.30 am. Breakfast was served in Blakes restaurant, and if the weather was superb you could sit out in the Terrace garden, we did this many times. Breakfast consisted of Cereals, croissants, chocolate croissants, porridge, different varieties of melon, yogurts, toasts, 3 types of fish also, and of course the fried breakfast. My husband had fried breakfast every day, at home he only ever eats cereal. The fried breakfast consisted of sausages, bacon, tomatoes, fried egg, fried slice, scrambled egg, baked beans, and mushrooms. He said to me that the fried breakfast was the best he has ever had, it was always cooked just right. There was also toast, and what was great to see , was they can do Gluten/Wheat free Brown or white bread, and also we only drink Lactofree milk. I just want to say Nick and all the waiter and waitresses made sure that every day we had our Gluten free Bread/Toast and our milk( just make sure you send a letter or a email to The Hotel to insure that they know your dietary needs. I have many allergies, 80 allergies altogether. This is so welcoming to see Best Western Hotels listening to people who stay at Hotels. The hotel had a informal bar area which was lovely to sit in day or night. You could sit in very comfortable sofa's and just have a tea or coffee and a variety of Latte coffee, (very nice indeed, even made with our Lactofree milk, so thankyou very much indeed, or just alcoholic drink. They served sandwiches, home made scones, (even Gluten free) . Pizza's, pasta dishes, there was Omelettes.they also could you skinned fries, or chunky chips, salads. But if you wanted to dine in style you could book a table in the evening at The Hotel's Blakes Restaurant. You do need to dress up, ( no Jeans etc allowed)if you wish to dine in here. It did look very swish and romantic. A nice looking menu, fish and steaks etc. we Unfortuately didn't dine in here. There is a Drawing Room to sit in as well, with a bar. You could sit in here if you just wanted to read the morning papers, or even play cards, or have a drink, or just sit there quietly. Downstairs there was a fabulous Spa, a lovely looking pool and a spa jacuzzi, in which was Devine, it was very warm indeed and very relaxing. There was also a steam room, and a sauna, in which my hubby loved. There were two types of gyms as well, and all guests staying at the hotel could use these facilities as often as they liked free of charge, just make sure you have a £1.00 coin for the locker. If you wished to have massages, and nails painted ,see the booklet for their prices. I had a pedicure, and my toenails still look lovely. On our 1st weekend of staying at Hotel I would like to say thank you so much to Nuno, who made it lovely for us when we sat in the front garden area, in which I had family travel from the Isle Of Wight, my Grandad, my Uncle and my Cousin. Nuno made sure my Grandad was comfortable as he could see he was elderly and frail. He got my Grandad a cushion and placed it behind his back, also got us a jug of iced water as it was a very hot day. We ordered various items from the menu and drinks. Nuno is a very polite, kind, charming waiter. On another day Me and my hubby came back from the town, and obviously I am very unwell indeed, and while out, I had my usual attack, as when we got to reception desk, the very polite young lady who has only been I believe at the hotel for 2 weeks, badge said Trainee, her name I think is Bherta, please forgive us if we have spelt name wrong.she looked at me straight away, and she has only spoke to us twice before this, and she asked was I ok, I said no, I am having a attack, she said I looked very tired and exhausted, is there anything we can do for you, she asked if she could call me a Dr. I said no Thank you, I hopefully will be fine. These attacks can last 2 hours to sometimes a day. I have Dystonia, in which my facial muscles and all my muscles spasm and I have severe pain. The fatigue that hits me, can be so severe, so it badly effects me. I can hardly talk ,and my speech can go. Also Ricardo came out to front desk and he was also very concerned for me. They both said please make sure you make contact with us, if you need a Dr, my attack was still with me at lunchtime the next day. Just want to say Reception staff, everyone has been very efficient, kind, polite. Another time we had coffee in our room, and I was still having my normal attack, and somehow my coffee went all over my legs, on the carpet, a little bit went on the bed sheet, I was so worried about the carpet, Rich spoke with the duty manager one evening.but the manager was more worried about my legs and he said I am a first aider, please may I check your legs, I said honest I am fine, I am just very upset that the coffee has gone over the carpet. Again, he was not worried, about this, he know I was very unwell, and upset. He still asked the next day If I was ok. Thank you again for your help.also we had another evening where we had room service, a coffee, and the Waiter Jarek, again very helpful, kind and polite, who realised he hadn't given us our Lactofree milk, we said don't worry, but he insisted going back down 3 flights of stairs , and coming back with it. All the staff are exceptional, everyone gives 100% to all guests. They always say Good Morning, always smile, everyone looks happy in their job. Everyone is polite, friendly, kind, and yes making sure that guests are given extra in care and attentiveness. Also Andy The Maintenance man, checked our bathroom door handle, when we first arrived, we thought it was going to fall off, but he checked this out straight way when we first arrived. Also our balcony door, we couldn't lock it, this was sorted out very efficiently. So thank you very much indeed Andy. Also thank you to all the waiters and waitresses who served us with coffee and tea and toast, at Breakfast, and when we had drinks in the day time and evening. Very hardworking.a big Thank you to Nick Rutigliano who is the Blakes Restaurant Manager, he is the most charming, kind and polite Maître d'. Nick knew our room number everyday, he made sure we had the correct milk and my Gluten free Toast. He was a very friendly man, who made sure everything was ok every day. In fact he made me laugh, he is a very friendly Manager, to be so happy at 7 am every day. We had a couple of chuckle's every morning. Also a big thank you to Paul Plumley and the waiter, who helped me on the Sunday, the day before we left the hotel. We were sitting in Drawing Room, and we both feeling a little bit warm, but continued sitting there, as the weather was raining, and the other informal bar was closed. As I turned to my husband, he said He felt really hot, and I suddenly thought , oh know, Rich looked liked he was going to pass out. I found the lovely waiter, sorry I have forgotten your name, you always helped us or spoke to us, I said please come quickly, my husband is going to pass out, it was very hot in The Drawing Room, there was no air circulating. I got back to Rich and his head was back on the chair, but he hadn't passed right out, and very quickly Paul Plumley The General Manager arrived, and sat with us, he made sure a Rich was ok, and made Rich drink a pint of iced cold water, and a apple juice and two biscuits, once Rich felt like he could move, Paul said for us to sit in The Lobby, where there was a breeze, and more doors were opened up. Thank you again to Paul Plumley and The Waiter for making sure Rich was ok. We went back to bedroom, and I made sure Rich felt a lot better before we went out to a The Seafront.
This Hotel deserves 5 stars, staff and facilities are exceptional . Thank you to everyone. This is a Happy Ship.Hope to see you again soon, whenever we can do it.
