My husband and I spent two nights at the hotel, visiting Bournemouth for The Temptations/Four Tops concert. There were certainly nice things about our stay. The staff were friendly (especially the gentleman who seated us for breakfast) and the reception & lounge areas were well presented, with the inviting feel of fireplaces glowing as we came in from the pouring rain & howling winds. It was very conveniently located for walking to the Bournemouth International Centre, the shops, restaurants & the cinema. We had dinner in the hotel one evening and my red wine risotto was delicious. I used the gym and was very impressed with the state of the art equipment. Very nicely laid out. Our room, however, was small, functional, but uninspiring. It was a bit of a disappointment, after enjoying the main areas downstairs. The carpet looked tired, the floor squeaked and the dark furniture did nothing to cheer up the room. The only good thing was that there were high ceilings. The bed was only a standard double and the mattress too soft. The bathroom was also small, with no room to put your toiletries. Also, people should be made aware that there is a large building site just next door. While there is nothing that the hotel can do to change that, guests should be aware that they start work at 8am & don't finish until 4pm. We accepted that there would be construction noise, which wasn't too bad. But if that's the sort of thing that would upset you, then be prepared. Of course, in the weeks ahead, the nights will draw in sooner, so their work day will be shorter.
