I was almost put off by some of the reviews, but found the Best Western Royale an excellent hotel. Booked for one night to see Seal in Bournemouth. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Room (one of their chalet rooms) spacious and very clean, ensuite immaculate. Inexpensive bar, free WiFi and good food. Public rooms airy and clean and the refurbishment looked good. At £85 for the two of us it compared well with much more expensive hotels. Recommended.

We booked 2 rooms for myself, my hubby & 85yr old mum-in-law for 2 days.
Both rooms were small but clean.
However, hotel water pressure is so low there was only a drip from the shower - a fact the hotel knew but chose not to share with us.
In my opinion they shouldn't have been hiring the rooms out until the problem was sorted - we were presented with a fait accompli.
The hotel was unable to move us as the only 2 room left were old & hadn't been redecorated.
Additionally, the restaurant food was no more than adequate, & our overall impression was one of penny pinching - minimum number of tea/coffee sachets in the room, minimum tissues & toilet roll etc.
The hotel has been recently refurbished - but it is cosmetic only - the actual structure of the hotel is showing its age.
The barman couldn't have engaged less if he tried, but the receptionists were friendly & helpful, as were the restaurant staff.
When we checked out our bill had a small reduction included - when I raised it as insufficient our bill was immediately halved, which went some way to pacifying me.
However - the rooms should not have been sold in the first place - we were in rooms 308 & 318 - I suggest you check with the hotel if you're booked in with them already.

First impression is not too bad. Nice lobby, good big restaurant. Bar is too small - lots of seating, but when it got busy the service dropped off as the actual bar counter is so small. As someone else pointed out, the lift is somewhat cosy - 3 people at most, or 1 plus suitcase. Room was a let down - 1990s 14 inch TV, woodchip wallpaper (mmm, nice!), the extractor in the bathroom didn't work, nor did one of the lights, and the towel rail mysteriously disappeared after the first morning of room service! The room was very hot, and the soundproofing not great - or the people upstairs had sneaked an elephant in with them...
Service in the restaurant was good, and the food good too. Secure parking, which is useful. They've obviously spent some money on the place, but not on the twin room I stayed in (214). One of our group stayed in a a single room, and described it as absolutely tiny, and another described his single as being like they'd closed off a corridor with a door and made it into a room...!!
So, overall not great, but reasonably cheap and near the sea front and town centre.

The hotel is cheap and cheerful. We paid £65.00 bed and breakfast for 2 people for a Friday night via the hotels own website.
The hotel was clean and tidy and staff friendly. The bedroom was clean. The double bed was very small and needed replacing. The shower in the bathroom had very little pressure. The breakfast was adequate for the price we paid - the service was quick and the choice of buffet breakfast good. All in all a reasonable hotel for the price. On checkout we were informed that there was a £2 charge for the use of their car park!

Arrived at this impressive looking building on a cold evening and it looked inviting, or so I thought!

Check-in was painfully slow, but got through in the end. One 4-person lift for a three storey 120 room hotel is inadequate for the demands of that hotel.

Room 116 was clean, tidy, but could certainly do with redecorating, the narrow almost-slit window overlooking the yard and car park didn't impress me!! The en-suite had recently been refurbished and was well-presented, its shower was ideal as showers go.

Room Service was reminiscent of Faulty Towers I had no Room Service menu so I went to Reception to get one and ordered a meal there, returned to room, 20 mins later, was told my dish was no longer available, I asked about alternatives, non comprehenez, down to Reception, sent to Bar and Aldara behind the bar clearly explained the alternatives, she took my order and it arrived at my room and was enjoyed.

Good a reasonable night's sleep but breakfast also had the Faulty Towers feel - One waitress send me to my table and invited me to the hot food counter, whilst there another waiter put another guest in my place - Left Hand not knowing what Right Hand is doing. Manager/Head Waiter (Grey Suit) strutted round and tried to be ploite, but it was an effort on his part. Breakfast was palatable!!

Check-out was efficient.
