My wife and I stayed at the Collingwood for a weekend and both of us enjoyed it tremendously. The hotel and our room was spotless, the staff were wonderful and the food was divine. Would definitely stay here again

I have recently had a three night break at the Collingwood Hotel and it exceeded my expectations. The hotel is only a short stroll from the beach, either by lots of steps or a long slope, it is within easy reach of the shops and attractions. The reception area has plenty of comfy couches and there is plenty of seating in the bar area. Everyone is welcoming and there is a friendly feel to this hotel. Our room had everything you would expect from a 3 star hotel and was a lot nicer than some, the bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were very clean. The food is very good value for money, plenty of choices from the buffet and individual cereal boxes rather than large bowls, the main breakfast is individually cooked for you, there is plenty of everything. The evening meal is four course and again there are several choices, there is a different menu every night. For the money we paid we could not fault this hotel, the staff are so friendly and helpful, we would not hesitate to stay again.

We stayed for three nights last month with our 2 year old daughter when our regular hotel proved difficult to book with. After seeing the previous good reviews it seems the majority of people are spot on with their comments.
The hotel was very clean, the food excellent and most importantly the staff were brilliant and actually seemed like they wanted you to enjoy your stay. A cot was provided free of charge by the hotel and our little one really enjoyed the swimming pool and the evening entertainment on each of the nights we were there. All in all 5 out of 5 and we will be back.

Room Tip: Book DB&B as the evening meal is great.

I spent a weekend at this hotel recently as part of a 75 strong group of dancers, and everyone was more than happy with the food, their rooms , everything. . The food was of excellent quality, and plentiful, the vegetables were perfectly cooked, and the salads were interesting and fresh. The staff did a fabulous job of serving all 75 of us a 4 course dinner each evening, all in one sitting. The service was speedy and efficient but we never felt rushed. I don't eat breakfast but my friends who did were raving about it!
I had single occupancy of a double room, which was nicely furnished with everything I needed, including a very comfy bed!
The ballroom is small, but nicely appointed with a new floor. There is a small bar in the ballroom which wasn't in use, but we were given a dedicated member of staff each evening to bring our drinks from the bar upstairs, and keep our water jugs constantly replenished. They worked very hard and were delightfully cheerful.
Highly recommended.

We have just returned from an excellent break away at the Hotel Collingwood in Bournemouth. Whenever we feel the need to get away this is now the place we first think of. We have been going to Bournemouth itself for many years and have tried many Hotels until five or six years ago when we were told by a colleague at work about this hotel and thought we would give it a try - because, after all, if he liked it then it had to be good we thought. We were not disappointed, everything from the check-in to the restaurant and the cleaning of the rooms really can't be faulted. Ever since we started going we have been back to this particular hotel two or three times each year for varying types of break, some 5 or 6 nights and some 2 or 3 nights. The Hotel itself has a drop off area just outside the front door where you can check yourselves in and leave details of your vehicle with a computerised system at reception. You can then leave your vehicle at the back of the hotel in their huge car park. The rooms themselves have now nearly all been redecorated I understand and are more than adequate with a nice hospitality tray with tea, coffee and drinking chocolate. The food is another reason why we have been back time and again. At breakfast everything is freshly cooked and not kept warm as you find in some places and the evening meal is a choice of 5 courses and is a real delight of high quality food in particular the speciality cheesecakes. The staff in the restaurant are always on the go seeing to the guests needs and it seems as if nothing is too much trouble for them e.g. extra toast, tea etc. The hotel provide some form of entertainment every night and whilst we were there this time we even had the management up on the dance floor. The one we enjoy the most is on a Friday and Sunday nights due to his mix of ad libs and the way he involves the audience but they all of fairly equal standing. The area itself has a huge amount of things to keep you entertained but the thing we love most is going to Poole Quay.
To sum up this is a very good hotel which we can thoroughly recommend with pleasant staff - the only thing is that we can't believe it is only a three star.

Room Tip: The only slight thing I would say is that the back rooms are a little quieter than the front rooms a...
