“A very nice stay”
Reviewed 1 July 2010

Stayed here as we were off to a concert at the BIC, which is just a very short walk away.

Upon arrival we received a very warm welcome by the receptionist who took interest in our journey to the hotel and our reason for staying there.

The room was very comfortable if not a bit frilly in its décor, but that’s just personal taste, the main thing is the bedroom and the ensuite bathroom were both very clean. We both used the in house leisure centre, which contains a pool, spa pool and sauna and a few pieces of gym equipment. One slight negative point, the changing rooms could do with a bit of an over haul, we both thought they were a bit damp and dingy

The restaurant really wasn’t to our tastes, far too much pink and way to frilly, however the breakfast was piping hot and plentiful. There are many good points to this hotel, close to the BIC, close to the beach and just a short walk to the towns many bars and restaurants to name but a few.

Would highly recommend and stay again

We recently returned to this hotel for a 4 night break and were delighted to experience the same high standards as in previous stays.
We had a very nice third floor room, food was excellent and all at a very reasonable price.
Hotel is located in the Westcliffe area 5 minutes walk to the beautiful beach and just 15 minutes walk from the main town shopping centre.

The Collingwood is in a great location within a 10 minute stroll into the centre of Bournemouth. Bournemouth is quite hilly so be prepared! We had a DBB inclusive rate with the family and this proved to be good value. The room we had was clean, spacious and recently refurbished. The food was very good, each night a choice of starters folowed by soup course, main courses and pudding! The children were will catered for and were able to choose from both the children menu and adult's menu as they wished. Service was attentive and efficient. The hotel has a games room (pool and snooker) and swimming pool. The pool is quite small but was OK for a quick dip before dinner. The car park is very spacious with plenty of room. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and liked the fact that rooms were available from 12.30 and not after 2 as with most hotels. Would definitely return.

Really enjoyed our stay. When we got there the room we were given had a strange smell when we mentioned it at reception they gave us another room right away. The rooms were clean and very comfortable and the service in the dining room was excellant as was the food. All in all a very good hotel.

A really great hotel, everything there if you wish to participate. Very friendly service by all members of staff. The food was really good, pipping hot, which I like and a great variety to choose from for all tastes buds. The decor of the hotel was very pleasant to the eye and in our room had a sea view. Our room had everything you could want and very, very clean.
Etertainment of the night was really good and had a good time. Nice to relax and enjoy company of friends and new friends that we met. We have stayed several times at this hotel
and hopefully will do many times in the future. Thanks for a great weekend

Reception - we are always welcomed with smiles after a long tiring journey, my husband has low mobility and they were quick to assist with our luggage.

Bedroom - we had an excellent room which was very large, clean and warm. The room was also fitted with air conditioning that could be used if needed. There was ample space for folding clothes in drawers or hanging in the fitted wardrobes. Complimentry tea and coffee along with shower gels and soap in the bathroom. The towels were changed daily. The clearner that attended the rooms went above and beyhond to make sure the rooms were immaculate and also smiled and greeted us.

Car Park - was extremely large with lots of parking space around the back of the hotel with some reserved spaces for disabled parking.

Swimming Pool - the pool was clean, warm and inviting

Food - excellent with a great choice and was also served HOT. Good selection of wines, sprits and beers at the bar.

Location - excellent positioning but a litte hilly from the beach and the town centre.

Staff - warm, friendly and always on hand to help with any requirements you may have. Proprioter is often at hand to help and advise which gives the hotel a family caring environment.

We have been to the hotel many times with friends and family and would definatley recommend it to others,

Just returned from a four night stay. We had stayed at this hotel many years ago, at that time we thought it average. What an improvement. Lovely room at the back, not the perfect view, but you cant have everything, very quiet, couldnt even hear the folks next door!
The food is excellent, the only slight moan, they dont cook the toast very well at breakfast sometimes only done on one side, but when asked for well done, it came perfectly made, and was served with a smile. Everywhere is very clean, lovely ensuite.
Very good entertainement every night.
Smashing car park never any trouble finding a spot. Great swimming pool. Left my shampoo and conditioner when I left the pool, but the management went to great lengths to find it and return it to me the day after. Looking forward to a return visit
