We booked an amazing deal through Britannia hotels,we have stayed in quite a few of this hotel chain.
We checked in and Sarah on reception although very busy was really obliging and helpfull,I had previously emailed the hotel regarding room availabilty.Sarah managed to facilitate our request.
The room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the gardens,it was a good size, well equipped,it was as some reviewers have said a little dated.
We met Mo from house keeping, who produced a fan for us to use due to the very warm weather, also a spare sheet for the bed incase it got too warm, which it did(Cheers Mo)
Once we were settled we went for a walk round ,the location of the hotel is excellent, just a short walk to the east cliff and the beach.
Every meal we had was excellent, very good variety, always hot and well cooked, occasionally we had to wait for dishes to be replenished,we soon found out why, people were taking huge portions and leaving most of it,the staff on the whole were excellent and god knows how they kept smiling with some of the miserable guests around.
The gardens were well kept and a real blessing in the sun.
There are two other Britannia hotel close by,which you can use each others facilities, but viewing all three,we were pleased we chose The Heathlands.
We would recommend this hotel and we would definately return.

Room Tip: 311 excellent view

Attended a wedding here and although the hotel is looking very tired the staff really excelled themselves with their attentiveness. The food was run of the mill but the room decoration for the wedding was first class.

To start with the positives:
Comfy bed, large room & good breakfast.
Negatives:
Shower didn't work (well water did trickle out).
Filthy bath.
Noisy at night
Very hot, no air-con.
Wallpaper was coming away from walls.
Bathroom tiles were peeling away.
TV the size of a watch & very few channels.

One of the worst places that I have stayed!!!

Room Tip: do not choose 231

This Hotel was beautiful. We booked last minute and got a great price. The room was lovely, big, clean and just generally amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was very tasty and it had a big range of food to choose from. Would defo stay again and recommend to anybody!! Thank you.

Stayed here with a mate of mine for a gig in Bournemouth. I've always been qute content with the Traveldge experience but the reviews for the Bournemouth one had some poor shouts so I thought i'd look elsewhere. Booked this place with a double room B&B.

Firstly the room was decorated circa 1990 and needs updating. There was no directory to explain hotel facilites. The TV was still tuned to the now deactivated analogue signal therefore no TV for us, it served as a useful paperweight at best. The duvet barely covered the bed and the cold tap only supplied warm water. Be warned if you use a shower, never before have I experienced such lack of pressure, a wash in the basin was more exciting.

On to breakfast... Dont bother. They make cornflakes look even more unappealing and the cooked option was lame. My mate suggested we stop off on the way back for some roadkill instead. I resisted the urge.

I'm not sure who this hotel is aimed at but at age 30, we must have brought the average age to just under 70. The place was full of OAP's who were also complaining about the 'dishwater' tea on offer. I usually find them quite a tolerant bunch too.

All in all it was just a place to put our heads after a gig, in hindsight, I wish I'd stuck with the Travelodge as at least you know what you're getting. If you are after cheap, zero frills this is ok.

My peice of advice... LOCK THE DOOR. We were rudely interupted by the cleaner at 08:50 with the quietest of knocks.

To end on a positive... the staff were all quite curteous and efficient.

On reading the reviews for this hotel we found them to differ greatly from people hating it and others having a good stay. After staying over a weekend as part of a group it is clear it is down to which room you stay in. If you are lucky to have a good room which tends to be at the front of the hotel, then it is not a bad hotel. If you have a room at the back overlooking the working areas of the hotel it is terrible. (We had a poor room at the back over looking the kitchen – and got almost no sleep all weekend.) The staff our helpful and the public areas are nice, the food is plentiful if not very exciting.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front.

My daughter and i stayed here overnight to visit Bournemouth uni. It was much cheaper than the travelodge and included a full English breakfast. The hotel looked very grand from the picture the gardens an added attraction. Our room was really 2 rooms with a sofa bed and single bed in the lounge and a twin in the bedroom. both had tv (the bedroom one didn't work). The bathroom was very clean, the small top window was stuck open, not a problem though as the other rooms were really warm.
The staff were very friendly, and all seemed to be efficiently run. On arrival, we were informed that several of the guests had diahroea and vomiting, and we had the option of not staying.Decided to risk it although didn't use the restaurant and skipped breakfast, which meant room charged was reduced, (a pleasant surprise). £3 charge for car park, but that was mentioned on booking. No extra charge for using debit card as some previous reviews had mentioned.
The hotel was very good value and i would stay there again. Easy access to town, walking distance to good restaurants.
