“Great value for Boogaloo Blues Weekends”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

The hotel is informal and cosy, with good food and a great atmosphere for a Blues Weekend. My husband and I went last December and have booked again for 13th - 16th December, 2013. Chris Farlowe is the top attraction (Out of Time, Handbags & Gladrags, etc.), plus many other fantastic bands and singers. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel for Boogaloo's Blues Weekends.

Room Tip: We prefer a room not above the live bands!

Stayed here for one night in September 2013.
Payed £35 for a room it's a cheap budget hotel that attracts weekend drinkers very noisy !! The hotel is dirty and some of the staff look like they just come out of school. I asked a young girl at reception did they have wifi she replied with we might have .

Cheap is not always best you pay for what you get !!

Would I stay here again ? No never

All staff were pleasant and very helpful. One of our party couldn't get the shower to work and they came straight away to help.
The food was all buffet style even the evening but was plentiful and very good quality. This buffet style would give a problem to guests with sticks. Seating was a bit muddled and as the seating arrangements were not clear (a bit of a 'free for all') sometimes our party could not eat all at the same time. Because the queuing system was a bit chaotic it was difficult to eat the same courses all together, we had to just get up to the buffet when we spotted a space.
The room was clean & comfortable if a little tired and the bathroom was quite tight. The wash basin was in the bedroom and not the bathroom.
The location is excellent as it is fairly central and close to all amenities.
The entertainment on Monday was excellent. This was a guitar playing, singing funny man and was very entertaining. His name was Mike Moran. Tuesday was also good with a couple of experienced singers. The entertainment later in the week did not reach their level of entertainment and was a little disappointing. The singers were not strong enough.
There was an issue with another guest during the week when we were disturbed during the night however the hotel staff dealt with this very well.

Room Tip: We stayed in RM 125. It was nice and lovely view through bay window. Bathroom was a bit small.

Paid £76 with superbreak for 2 nights breakfast and dinner. Hotel clean, room clean & spacious, food nice, although avoid the sausage, lol. Location excellent, only a 5 min walk if you go out the back entrance to the bars. Staff lovely and helpful. Didn't care if the hotel was dated, I love a bit of chintz!

We stayed at Heathlands for 4 nights with Caledonian travel. Our experience was a very good one.Admittedly, the rooms do need refurbishing but were clean and tidy. The cleaners came every morning (after we'd gone out) and kept everything spotless. The food was excellent with plenty of choice and variation. The staff were always very pleasant and helpful and the entertainment was very good. The duo on Tuesday (Rossano and Gemma) were particularly good. If you want 5 star accomodation I'm afraid you must pay for it!!

Room Tip: our room was on the 2nd floor (205) a 3 bed room and was very quiet Shower room was quite small.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL, AVOID!
With that done, I will try and keep my cool about this awful hell hole.
Sorry TripAdvisor if this is a bit naughty.
I have used Britannia before, and felt comfortable about going to the Roundhouse again.
I was fobbed off that they had no rooms due to maintenance, and packed off to hell.
I'm sure this is the waiting room for death, I'm in my twenties but the average age here was over 80 for sure!
Food was horrible, sausages tasted like chemicals, still have the taste in my mouth now, nasty.
Rooms are old, dirty, need a paint, have pubic hair in bathrooms, too hot, windows have tape on them.
Outside, it looks like it has never been landscaped, the picture on the website is actually hilarious in comparison.
My final parting words, stay somewhere else. Travelodge looks like Hilton or Riu compared to this crap hole.

The front of the hotel and reception looks so impressive, but the room was not only completely outdated, the chair looked like someone probably died in it and the carpet was SO stained and just disgusting. The shower refused to work and when explained to reception, they just didn't seem to care - "it's just the shower I'm afraid... It's just an old carpet."

We were switched rooms the second night and it was lovely. Not amazing. But fine - and a relief. In this new room we found an information card that informed us we could use one of the other Britannia Hotel's spa and swimming pool for a small fee which we would have loved to have done... if we had known about it.
The double beds are also just two singles - but not attached which caused us to fall down the middle a couple of times in the night.
No wifi in the rooms at all. The bathrooms looked as though they had been cleaned best they could but was near impossible with all the rust and stains.
The view was of the roof littered with rubbish and old building materials.

We spent a ridiculous amount of money on this hotel, not even including breakfast. I wrote to the Britannia headquarters and have had NO reply. How rude.

Don't bother with this place.

Room Tip: If they put you in 107 they are having a laugh.
