“Acceptable for short stay.”
Reviewed 29 October 2013

Needed a room in the Bournemouth area and booked mainly based on price and general reviews.
Stayed one night. Friendly staff in reception and the bar. Breakfast was more than acceptable. Room was clean if a little small and in need of some tlc. Car park spaces are limited but we found a space on the road and arrived and left within the free period. Free Wifi in public area around bar. No entertainment on a Saturday night, not sure if this is the norm or not. Safe deposit boxes are available, ask at reception. As we were leaving another get said he was waiting for the police as his room had been broken into! Would stay again for short break but not for more than a couple of nights. Did not experience any noise from other guests in the hotel

Booked as a very last minute weekend away as it was cheap. Positives are the staff, very friendly and helpful, dinner was ok, rooms was very clean, bed very comfortable if a bit small for a double, bathroom clean also.
Downsides. It is a huge hotel that could be a fantastic hotel and the staff deserve a beautiful place to work in. It is tired and does need a massive investment and makeover. It is kept very clean however. The shower was the worst thing, trickle if that.

If you are looking for somewhere just to put your head down and want it clean and don't care about decor then it great. If you want a bit of glamour and a good shower then it not the place.

We stayed for 2 nights so it was ok for what we wanted.

Room Tip: Keep your window open. The heating is on constantly and it gets very very hot.

After a week's stay with my family I would certainly not go back to the Heathlands in Bournemouth. The family room was disgusting and awful smell of stale and grime filled the room especially in the tiny bathroom. Also unfortunately we had to report a theft to the hotel manager and Dorset Police as our children's ipods were taken from our own room. Not a very happy ending to our holiday.

Stayed at The Heathlands last December for a music event. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bar was undermanned given the number of us trying to drink but the bar staff were extremely hard working and doing their best which was appreciated. The food was simple but tasty and no problems with the breakfast. The hotel is in a good location. No problem with the room we were in which was a little old-fashioned but comfortable and well-located and pleasantly quirky!

Well aged 46, i felt like a spring chicken there this weekend. More walking sticks and zimmerframes than on a SAGA cruise
But...
The place was clean , hospitable and reasonably priced. Well situated near the seafront and the beds were firm with plenty of hot water excellent for our boys golf tour.
Go with yr eyes wide open and u ll enjoy it for what it is - a budget hotrl

Be extremely wary of the photographs on this hotels website. The staff are ignorant, rude and totally disinterested in the guest or providing any information or quality of service, The hotel is dirty, shabby and well past it's sell by date. The room we stayed in was disgusting. Breakfast the next morning was appalling and frankly a complete waste of time, as was the hotel. Never again, and please do avoid this place at all costs.

Room Tip: Don't even bother.

£100 is not articulately cheap, so executed more.

The room, although huge, was awful. Like something out of a 1970's porn film. The net curtains were filthy and had never been washed. Hideous.
The whole hotel was very very dated and In Very clear need of total refurbishment. Surprisingly, the bed was comfortable.

Breakfast was cheap and cheerful, but chaotic and badly managed.

Won't stay here again until a refurb has been carried out.
