“A nice hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2014 via mobile

Stayed one night in the Heathlands hotel. Service was great, had a lovely night porter who checked us in at 1am. Now although I only stayed the night I can't comment on anything but the room. But in regards to the room I was a bit disappointed. The room was in need of a major update, and a more rigorous clean with obvious areas not having been wiped down. For a one night stop over the room was satisfactory. However, if I was staying for more than a night I would felt let down by the room in this hotel

Was wondering due to reading the comments what our stay would be like and can only say perhaps the décor could be updated in the bedroom and bathroom it was clean and we enjoyed a good breakfast served by friendly staff.

For my husbands birthday we and our friends stayed March 13th & 14th (Friday and Sarurday) in rooms 132 and 133. The rooms were grubby, paper peeling and stained carpet. No tv in any of the hotel rooms were working because of an ariel problem caused by a storm (over two weeks ago). I ran hot water for a bath but the water was YELLOW! I phoned reception and was told the room had not been used for a while so let the water run for 20 minutes or so and the rust would clear from the pipes!!!!!!! In room 133 the extractor fan in the bathroom not working. The tiny lift did not work for over 24 hours (there was no one to help the elderly with their suitcases) There was no entertainment at all in the hotel although there is a room that would be perfect with a little thought from the hotel management. The only tv that was working was in the lounge unfortunately there was no hand control so it was BBC or nothing! The restaurant closes at 8pm. The young staff were friendly but we would never ever waste money on ANY Britannia Hotel again!

Room Tip: Just dont stay (best tip I can give)

We had booked through Laterooms .com to stay at the Carrington hotel but they changed it to the Heathlands which is part of the BRITANNIA chain. It was very shabby although clean and the food was not at all appetising! The wallpaper was peeling off all over the place and there was a smell of blocked drains in the corridor near the public toilets! Would not stay here again.

We stayed Friday and Saturday night with a vip package in a suite for 158pound including bottle of wine-huge box of thorntons chocolates - box of shortbread bicuits -box of fudge - bowl of strawberries and fruit... in an ensuite suite...and dinner and breakfast each day... with its location right in middle of town by the seafront... staff were friendly and working hard...great value and lovely stay.

Room Tip: Romsey suite great
