Stayed here in June, while I can't fault the food, the accommodation left a lot to be desired tatty is the best way to describe it. curtains thin, charged for tea and coffee, could not put kettle on and watch TV due to lack of plug sockets, very disappointed and to end it all I was burgled. The Manager tried to make out that it was my fault, obviously a woman on her own would loose her own phone, purse and jewelry. At no time was any compassion offered, made me feel the criminal, despite police proving him wrong.
6 months on and heard nothing from the hotel, not even a call to see if I got home OK considering the state I was in, with no money etc.Would advise no one stay in room 29 on the first floor. especially if you are a single woman. The management could do with improving customer care.

We stayed in room 60 in this hotel for two nights from the 9th to 11th August and both my husband and I were bitten alive by bed bugs. We saw one in the bed but did not realise what this was until the bites started to come up once we had gone home.

I had about 80 bites all over my hands, arm, neck, back and face. They swelled up so badly I was on medication for days.

A few of the bites started to come up on our last morning but it was only once getting home and researching bed bugs that we realised this was what we had – they were in straight lines and clusters and were coming up 2 – 10 days later (this is dependent on how you react to them).
We immediately wrote to the managers (12th August) to ask for our money back and they were very dismissive of our complaint stating the room did not have bed bugs and had the cheek to offer us 20% off another stay, like we would ever want to stay there again!

We informed them that we would report them to the local authority and a week later, they sent us a certificate from a pest control company which stated the room did not have bed bugs. All this tells us is that this room now does not have them. When we questioned why this took so long, we were told that there were guests staying in the room. We were shocked that they would allow guests to stay in a room of which a complaint of this nature has been made.

The customer service shown by this hotel is appalling. Our complaint was not taken seriously from beginning to end and they made us feel us if we were lying - not a way a hotel should behave if they want to keep receiving guests.

In terms of reviewing the rest of the hotel, it is very old and not very well looked-after. We had chosen it specifically so we could use the outdoor swimming pool but as other reviewers have commented, it is filthy and full of dirt so we (and no one else) used it.

Under no circumstances would we choose to stay here again!

"With regard to the complaint we do not wish to seem insensitive however we do not believe the symptoms were as a result of staying in the Hinton Firs Hotel

We engaged a pest control provider at the earliest opportunity available. The incumbent guest was made aware and agreed to an initial visual inspection; given they had not experienced any symptoms and no bugs were obvious to the naked eye they did not want to accept the offer of another room.

When the room became available it was taken `off` and a thorough inspection was carried out by an accredited pest control company. As detailed in their report there was no evidence of bed bugs found in this room.

The hotel management deemed there was no further action required based on this evidence."

The staff where lovely but the hotel was not. Very old and standard the water was dirty coming out the tap had to wait for a long time for the water to become warm taking over 25 mins to run the bath in clear warm water. The bathroom was dirty. The food was average steak was tough, I wouldn't go back or recommend it to friends and family. The pillows where like bricks i was nit looking forward to another night! But the staff were very nice.

I went to Bournemouth with a friend to see a concert. We stayed at the Hinton Firs Hotel. The hotel was light and airy, we both had a single room. The rooms were small but adequate, the beds were larger than average single beds and very comfortable. There was a television and facilities for making hot drinks.
The staff were helpful and willing but in short supply in the evening, the barman was also on reception, but was apologetic and attentive.
The breakfast was very good and the service prompt.

Room Tip: We were staying on the higher floors, we were not disturbed by noise.

We actually booked this hotel and THEN read the reviews!! Was a little worried after some negative comments, but I have to say we were impressed. We only stayed one night whilst on our way to Bridport. My daughter loved the indoor pool and jacuzzi. Lovely having tea outside by the pool (although this pool looked a little grubby).

We decided to have the evening meal, which was very nice (could have done with a bit more!!)

Receptionist in the afternoon was very helpful and friendly. Room very clean, tea making facilities, tv etc. Perfect!

We stayed here for three nights, food was good and it made a pleasant change to see that most of the waiting staff are English and surprising to see that they are all male! Not often seen nowadays when most hotels couldn't survive without foreign workers. We had a massive flat screen tv on the wall with a clean and tidy bathroom, not four star but then the hotel isn't!
Free car parking which is a plus in Bournemouth now. Drinks reasonably priced. Never used the leisure facilities so am unable to comment. Only downside was the receptionist taking our payment and not even saying goodbye, just disappearing into the back office.
I was surprised to see that most of the clientele were on our visit of the senior citizen variety, most were well behaved but I couldn't believe the attitude of some who complained about an 80th birthday function which was making too much noise! How can you have a function with no noise? It finished at 11pm which we thought was early enough and some of the party were parking their chairs half on the dance floor which was a bit naughty and young kids running around all over the place but they soon went off to bed, we had a good night and we are in our 60's so I'm worried about being really old if I spend my time having a moan about other old people having a bit of fun. It takes all types to make a world unfortunately. I'd go again to this hotel.
