My wife and I spent our 40th wedding anniversary at the Cumberland - a gift from our children.
They could not have chosen better.
From the momenmt we arrived we felt like special guests - even though no one knew of our 40th in the hotel.
The receptionist was truly professionally, friendly and very helpful.
Our room , with a four poster and a wonderful view of those white horses roling in onto the beaches.
We had our evening meal in the Red Room, where again we were spolit by the excellent service and great food. Ad a wonderful view .
Our room was spotless, immaculate and pristine.
When we had breakfast, the food was again excelently prepared, and nothing was toomuch trouble of any the staff I asked for help.

First night wasn't good due to very noisy water system which kept both of us awake. However this was promptly sorted out the next day thanks to Patricia Green the Ops. Director who had us moved to another room on another floor. Thankyou Patricia.
The hotel has been renovated to a very good standard and the service by all staff was very efficient.

Room Tip: First floor near the central heating system was very noisy. Moved to room 215 on second floor, this...

Booked the Cumberland Hotel to get away for a night although close to home. We booked a superior double sea view for one night and were unexpectedly upgraded to a sea view suite room. Huge luxury room on the fourth floor which comprised of a four poster kingsize bed, lounge with sofa bed, two televisions, a hifi system and large bathroom. Food very good although portions slightly on the small side. Use of swimming pool, hot tub and sauna in Suncliffe hotel next door which was rather run down which is a shame as the Cumberland was very nice. We plan to visit the hotel again as it was a nice relaxing night away.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the fourth floor

We booked in last minute for our wedding anniversary and were pleasantly surprised with the service and the staff. All were exceptional and couldn't do enough for us. We had a sea-view with a balcony but if we stay again probably wouldnt bother with upgrading to a balcony. We were going to eat out but arrived late and just had time to catch the restaurant (last service 9pm). So glad we did, the food was superb!. Had the duck starter and the asparagus, and salmon and lamb shank for our main. Too full for a pudding so took what was left of the wine to our room and sat on the balcony. Breakfast was plentiful, our only bad comment for the stay was no fried eggs (husbands choice!) and the bacon was a bit dried out. Other than that we would definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: We were in room 206 which was quiet, except for the people above who were a bit noisy at 4am.

Dear Kim W, its great to hear you enjoyed your stay, and the food in the 2 rosette awarded Ventana Brasserie. The Duck starter is one of my favourites too.
We do serve fried eggs each day at the buffet breakfast, but in order to keep them as fresh as possible, they are delivered in smaller batches, I am guessing you must have arrived at the buffet " betwix" fill ups, apologies for that. Hopefully see you here again soon.

My now husband and I chose the Cumberland for our wedding venue in April this year. After viewing several other venues, we fell in love with The Cumberland for it's stunning art deco decor, wonderful service, and stunning views. And we certainly didn't regret it. We had the most amazing wedding! Brian, the hotel's events co-ordinator, was amazing. So friendly and helpful, and made us feel totally at ease, answering all the questions we could muster about the big day. The day itself went without a hitch, and all our guests had a wonderful time - complementing the atmosphere, the great service, and praising how accommodating the hotel staff was. We couldn't have asked for more. Alan Mathers, the DJ, was fantastic too, playing all our requests and keeping everyone on the dancefloor until the very end.

We'd just like to say a massive "thank you" to all at The Cumberland for making our wedding the most perfect day we could have imagined! We both felt utterly relaxed, and for me (being such a control freak!) leaving Brian and his team in charge of the day's events was an easy decision - it meant we could enjoy the day to the max with all our family and friends.

Two nights B&B, plus brasserie meals. Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful thereafter. Hotel very well appointed and relaxing. Other staff polite and generally attentive.

Slight mess-up on booking for a meal - after a delay, still didn't get the table we had previously asked for. But everyone was apologetic, and this didn't detract much from the stay.

Creaky floorboards were a minor issue.

Dear Acroterion, thank you for posting a great review. Its graet to hear all boxes are ticked, we have just been appointed as the AA highest 3 star in town at 88% and are delighted. Apolgies RE table location and booking, with two restaurants, very rarely we do get misunderstandings on an odd reservation, glad they sorted quickly for you and hope you return again soon.
