“5 star staff!!”
Reviewed 13 May 2013

We stayed with friends for three nights from 9th to12th May. Booked seafront rooms and were upgraded on arrival to 4th floor. What was particularly impressive was the staff team, all very friendly and dealt with any requests immediately. Rooms were fine although the showers were a bit antiquated. Food on set menu was very good and generous portions.
All in all, a very good stay and we would go again - the best recommendation!

Room Tip: Both 407 and 408 were good rooms.

Having visited the hotel, several times before our wedding day it's fair to say that I thought that I knew what to expect.. I was wrong.. But for the best.. The hotel decor is fantastic, food and service second to none and bridal suite brilliant. I can't really fault a thing and a big thank goes out to everyone at the hotel that made our day so special.

On the 6th April we had a wonderful time celebrating the Wedding of one of our daughers at this hotel. We had visited a Wedding fair here early last year and my daughter fell in love with this place and wanted to get married here. Well we weren't dissappointed. The hotel is in the "Art deco" style and has many beatiful features as well as being in a prime sea front position. On the day the sun came out and the day got better and better. The Hotel rooms we were allocated were very clean and spacious and we even had a sea view and balcony. All the staff were very attentive and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The room for the ceremony and reception was decorated just as she wanted in golds, coffee ,chocolate and creams and looked superb. The food was first class (this was echoed by many guests at the wedding) and the service of all the staff was faultless. They made sure we all had a good time.

Room Tip: The higher floors at the front are best for both view and less noise.

Dear LynnJJ741,

I cannot tell you how elated I am to hear that the big day went so well (especially the British weather). We host many weddings here at the Cumberland and our solid reputation for second to none customer focused service, innovative fresh food and chic style mean that we are high on the list for many future brides.

We all hope that you will return to us in the future and I wish you all the best.

The hotel overlooks the sea and if you are lucky enough to get a front facing room you can see right across the coastline. The hotel is dated like a 1940's cruise ship and the decor is mismatched, however the reception staff are very friendly and accomodating. The lift was tiny so not good if you aren't keen of confined spaces. My room was clean and rear view facing with a good shower and television. The breakfast was set out as a buffett and very nice, unfortunately the breakfast staff were rude and accused my colleague of not paying for breakfast when she had already paid when paying for her room, unfortunately this was our last impression of the hotel. Overall an average hotel in a good location.

Room Tip: When checking - in ask for a front facing room for the lovely views

Dear Gemma C,

Thank you very much on the whole for your review. Admittedly I am a little perplexed by some of your comments. By I do accept we are all different and we have different expectations.

I am concerned by your comments of poor service with breakfast! This is a matter that I do take very seriously and please know that I I will be investigating this matter closely with the food and beverage team.

We stayed 24/3/13- 25/3/13 on a B & B Basis. We had stayed at their isister hotel, The Suncliff, twice before but having walked past the Cumberland, always wanted to stay there. We were not disappointed. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful receptionist - always a good start. The hotel is very attractive with a relaxing atmosphere. We had dinner there on the first night and it was so good we dined there the second night too. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.
