“Really enjoyable Sunday lunch!”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

Excellent 3 course lunch for £17.50, really good value and amazing food. Atmosphere was fantastic, a truly wonderful afternoon coupled with good service too! I visited in November for a friends birthday celebration.

We also took up the Travelzoo offer and upgraded to a Saturday night which was, of course, a little extra - but worth it ! This is a lovely art deco hotel where the ground floor certainly has the wow factor in each room and must be even more enjoyable on a hot summer day around the pool. The room that we had could have been smartened up a bit and the location overlooking the car park was not the greatest but then you get what you pay for. A sea view room would be the real deal. The dinner was included and it was hats off to the chef as this was exceptional. Breakfast had everything on offer that you would hope to see - yummy ! Just a word of thanks to Nuno Gomes who was very professional and all staff made us feel very welcome.

Room Tip: Avoid a room with the heavy fire doors outside and try to splash out on a sea view one if possible !

We booked a two day break with Travel Zoo to this excellent hotel. We had a warm welcome by the staff on reception then headed up to our room, and we were not disappointed. A lovely room, well decorated, and a modern tiled bathroom. Plenty of wardrobe space....yes, proper wardrobes, not the 'hanging spaces' that you so often find in hotels these days. After settling in we went down for our evening meal in the Mirabelle restaurant. The evening meal on our first night was included in the deal. A fabulous meal, served by very friendly attentive waiting staff, putting us at ease straight away.
The breakfast buffet was equally as good as the evening meal had been...the best scrambled eggs I have ever had at a buffet breakfast!
The Art Deco theme ran right through the hotel making a delightful place to stay. We couldn't fault it in any way at all. We had heard that parking was an issue at this hotel, and had been told by the reception staff that there was extra parking at their sister hotel next door; but we didn't need it....got parked straight away on both days.
I can honestly say this has been the best hotel break we've ever had. We really didn't want to leave and I feel sure we will be back!

We stayed for one night on an incredibly good offer through Travelzoo.com. It was obvious from the time we arrived that throughout the hotel the staff were proud of the hotel and were determined to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Nothing was too much trouble. The dinner and the buffet were all exceptionally good.
We were not brave enough to use the lovely outdoor pool as it was the end of November but we were able to use the indoor pool and sauna in the adjoining hotel.
Our bedroom was comfortable and had been recently refurbished. It was well furnished with spacious bathroom with a brilliant shower. Our only complaint was that the occupants of the room above seem to spend half the night walking on creaky floor boards and we to relent to using earplugs to get to sleep!
The hotel has a great view over the sea from the East Cliff with a pleasant 15 minute walk into the town centre or a 10 minute to Boscombe pier.
Value for money you would be hard to beat this hotel for a holiday or mini break.

We took my mum here on 25th November to celebrate her 90th birthday and were looked after so well. We had 3 rooms. One for mum and sister, one for sister and brother-in-law, and one for us. Marcella at reception was completely charming, sorted out our rooms and booked us into the restaurant for the evening with no problems whatsoever, despite my sister trying to ask for a very precise reservation of 7.38pm (or that's what we thought she said). By the time we got to the room there was a birthday card waiting for my mum wishing her a happy 90th - how nice. At dinner we were ably looked after by Carmella and blow me down but there she was serving us at breakfast the next morning. They do work so hard and are always so cheerful. The food at dinner and breakfast was excellent. The rooms were comfortable, warm and well appointed. Flat screen TV with plenty of channels to choose from, tea and coffee making facilities, and a bathroom with plenty of hot water. The best part though has to be the location. Right on the Overcliffe drive, you have wonderful views of the sea with the Isle of Wight to the left and Poole harbour to the right. An easy, even for my mum, 20 minute walk into the heart of Bournemouth passing the Russel-Coates museum (well worth a visit if you're an art lover) on the way. All in all, a great hotel.

Room Tip: If you want a sea view you can pay extra, but we had rooms around the middle and they were really qu...
