What a lovely place this is. Just got back after a weekend break at The Cumberland. The position of the hotel is stunning as it has a glorious view across the sea from the cliff tops. Couldn't fault. The room's bed, bathroom's shower and tea facilities were all quite substantial. Only a slight need for improvement and that would be to have a fridge in the room. The bar and restaurant were both delightful and the food really yummy! Would love to be able to swim in the outside pool as it looked very inviting but i am sure too cold in January. Thank you to everyone at the Cumberland for a brilliant couple of days - so lucky to have gorgeous weather too!!

Room Tip: 212 has a great view across the cliffs and sea. We couldn't hear traffic so slept well. Could be very warm in summer though as the sun's position hits the front of the hotel most of the day.

Just returned from a lovely stay at this hotel with friends. Art Deco décor is beautiful. Room was lovely. View is fantastic and only 10 minutes walk to the shops & bars. Clean & tidy throughout. Good food and friendly staff. Will stay again.

I wanted to book a surprise 3-night break for my husband's 65th and after looking at reviews for hotels in Bournemouth, I decided on the Cumberland which I hadn't visited before. Our welcome was very warm and the complementary Bucks Fizz was a nice touch. I'd booked a Superior Ocean View room, but both of us were very pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a 4-poster Suite, which was wonderful. Although it rained continually for the two full days we were there, we took advantage of the indoor pool, next door at the Suncliffe, which was like a warm bath - again a lovely experience. We took a bus ride to Salisbury (1.5 hours each way) and saw spectacular sights of flooded fields from the top deck - a very interesting ride. We opted to eat at the Cumberland and took advantage of their 3 course meals at a discount when we booked. The food was superb and the surroundings, furnishings and friendliness of staff couldn't be faulted. Breakfast was also good with plenty to choose from the buffet, hot or cold. All in all wonderful value and the rain didn't stop us enjoying the experience. If there was one small comment on the room, it was the need to do look at the double glazing as it let in a roaring gale when there was a high wind, but luckily the very heavy curtains were able to stop that during the night when the wind was at it's worse, during the time we were there.

Room Tip: An Ocean View here is a must. No noise on the top floor.

Dear Stellastar46,

Thank you for your review. Wonderful compliments regarding your stay. Thank you.
Our windows are double glazed, but with the recent weather the way it has been, the gale force winds, the building has taken a battering.

We hope to welcome you back soon.

Best Regards,
