Booked this hotel for a weekend break as great rates were offered Have looked at this hotel before but the rates can be a little steep in summer
Also pre-booked dinner for the first night as again rates were very good
The staff are very welcoming and cannot do enough for you first class service offered at all times
We had a balcony room on the second floor which was as expected for 3 star rating loads of room and wardrobe space Good decent size TV
The food was excellent Evening meal was very pleasant and at breakfast a really good selection offered
The front terrace is a great place to sit in the sunshine
The location of the hotel is very good with quick access into town or the Old Christchurch road for restaurants and bars
We were there over the weekend and did not notice any noise from the reception rooms below even though there was a party going on and due to the heat we had our balcony door open
The only negatives I can think of are the parking which is really tight Reasonable size car park for the age of the hotel but too many spaces crammed in Fine if you have a small car but anything of any size spaces just not big enough We actually got stuck and took an hours waiting to get out of the car park to wait for other guests to move Again the staff could not have been more helpful Perhaps valet parking or remove the centre row which makes parking so tight
Will park on road next time
Also only one lift - we did give up on this on checking out as it was always full and used the stairs

Room Tip: The front balcony rooms are well worth the extra

Overnight stay in comfortable sea view room for me and my daughter who is a wheelchair user. Reception is welcoming, well decorated and spacious and really the staff could not have been more helpful. Assisted my daughter into the lift and nothing was too much trouble ---if only the same could have been said of the Pavilion Theatre which we visited later.
Plentiful tasty breakfast in lovely smart surroundings.
Thank you the stay at this hotel really made our visit comfortable and relaxed.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must!!

Good impression when we walked in, nice decor, friendly staff. Room was a bit grim for a 3 star it was on the side of the hotel partial sea view but the window had condensation constantly so could not see out. It should have been arranged as a twin but the beds were together as a double. The bathroom I would have expected a nice shower but it was mixer taps over the bath. I took my disabled mum away for a night to relax but this hotel would suit 18-30s at weekend as they had hired out one of the rooms downstairs we had thumping music until 1 am. I called the manager and they came up but it was clearly in between songs when they arrived and they could not hear. They did offer earplugs but it was not what we were expecting for a relaxing break. They currently advertise a health and well being break but I would not recommend this on a weekend. We did try to swap rooms when we arrived but no availability.

Returned to the Cumberland to celebrate my Son and Daughter in laws first wedding anniversary. The wedding at thr Cumberland last year was wonderful and our return today was just as good.
The food and service for our lunch was excellent and sitting in the sunshine around the pool was a great bonus.
Would definitely recommend this hotel for a wedding or just a great meal.

We just returned from a great night at The Cumberland in Bournemouth.

We arrived having rebooked the spa afternoon tea experience. For virtually the same price as a 55min treatment at the Oceana Spa 2 hotels down you can grab an afternoon tea in the Cumberland afterwards. The spa treatment was brilliant, and the tea simple but perfect. We had a sea view room with a little balcony which was a great view of the pool area and beach. The room itself was good, not much in the way of amenities which is where the 3 star makes sense.

The rest of the hotel is 4 star though, all the staff really friendly, the dinner very good quality and a great overall atmosphere at any time of day. The 2 for £10 cocktails in the evening were a great touch although there isn't much general bar seating as lots of the space is taken up by sofas.

Breakfast in the morning a good selection and check out simple. Overall a really great hotel, certainly the best in its category in Bournemouth (see my review on the cottonwood of how to not do a hotel).

Room Tip: I would choose a sea view
