“Well maintained and lovely view of the ocean!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2014

This was our first stay at the hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality offered by the hotel staff. They was courteous and prompt. Our room keys were not working properly on a couple of occasions and they promptly changed it without any delay. The hotel has excellent restaurants and provides amazing view of the sea from the suite. The rooms are quite well maintained and well stacked with all modern amenities, so no complains!
It has a really small lift which fits only 3 people, I thought that was cute but many might find that inconvenient, especially if you are staying on the top floor.

Room Tip: Opt for the sea facing suite/room - it is value for money!

We stayed here from 25th - 27th April in a room (313) with a Sea view and balcony. The view from the room was beautiful.
The room was well decorated, all very clean. Bathroom had bath and shower. The Sink looked as though it could do with being updated but everything else was in fantastic condition.
The overall look of the hotel restaurants etc. was very high class.
Breakfast was lovely, so much choice and very friendly, welcoming, helpful staff.
We loved staying here and are already planning our next weekend away and will most definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a sea view!! Well worth it

We stayed at the Cumberland Hotel for just one night I wish we could have stayed longer. The receptionist was charming which is always a good start to a visit. We were offered and accepted a reasonable upgrade to the themed Manhattan room. It was really special mainly because of the large balcony overlooking the pool and the sea. It was raining most of the time we were there which was unfortunate but we sat out on the balcony without getting wet and the views were amazing. The room was large and very comfortable. We ate in the dining room, the waiting staff were very attentive, the food good so no complaints there. The hotels public places are lovely all Art Deco . I will most definitely return to this hotel and hopefully for longer next time.

Excellent value. Great breakfast. Supper was extremely expensive for a very small amount of food. Would not eat in restaurant in the evening again. Room was ok. The smallest lift in the world exists in this hotel.two people one suitcase! Very pleasant professional staff. Our room smelt of cat urine. They offered another room but we had unpacked by then and stayed put. Our fault but the smell remained. Should have moved. They take pets and some ones cat defiantly left his call card! Would stay again. Parking a little tight. All in all nice hotel. Radiator creaked most of early hours. Joys of staying in older hotels. As there is no rating between average and very good on the review scale( there should be a"good" not average and then jump to very good!) I would say the Hotel was "good"

Room Tip: All rooms are good. Just be careful In The tiny weeny lift. Ask when it last inhabited a pet. They a...

Dear Trinidad,

Thank you for your review. Bit disappointed to hear of the smell of your bedroom. Yes we do take pets, but it is under the admission of the hotel. We do have pet policy, and the only pets we take are small breed dogs, unless the owner needs for guidance.
the comments receive are good regarding dinning experience so bit surprised by your comment.

On the whole you enjoyed your stay, and am glad you will return to us. We look forward to welcoming you back.

It's the staff that make this hotel. Friendly, professional, hard working and cheerful smiles in abundance. Management that get out to see the customers and roll their sleeves up if required. Good state of decor and facilities with excellent value for money.
For Bournemouth this is a very good hotel. It's not 5 star bedrooms, but they never claim to be and they for are acceptable for sleeping. The location and staff are 5 star!
Being cheerful and positive illicits a delightful response from the staff, so enter into the holiday spirit. Pay the extra for a sea view, it's worth it.
No hesitation in commending this hotel and they deserve the numerous awards on display.

Room Tip: Spend the money to get a sea view

This was our second stay and we have already booked for another in June.

Situated just few yards from the sea front, 'The Cumberland' provides the best you would expect from a 3 star hotel.

There are excellent views and the hotel provides clean and spotless surroundings. The restaurants are superb, and they deliver delicious food, The staff are friendly, attentive, polite and very professional. Yet again, we had a memorable and very enjoyable break .

During the past ten years we have stayed at many other accommodations in and around Bournemouth and we reckon this is probably the best.

We have just had one night at the Cumberland and we were so impressed. The staff were amazing, we were made to feel so welcome and special when we arrived. It was our anniversary so we asked for a nice table in the restaurant. I think we had the best one, it was lovely and the food was good too. We upgraded to a room with seaview, balcony and four poster and glad we did. Our only little moan was the shower had a very poor flow of water! Everything else was perfect. We hope to be back soon.
