We've just had 3 days/2nights at this wonderful hotel. The decor was amazing, the staff very friendly & helpful & the food was excellent. It has a decent sized outdoor swimming pool with a very good deck area. We will definitely stay at this hotel again when ever we're in Bournemouth. We payed extra for a sea view room which was well worth the money. Looking forward to our next stay here!

Room Tip: Definitely worth upgrading for a sea view room

Our second visit, and it is just as welcoming. The sun was shining this time, so the swimming pool area was really great. Sun beds and waiter service for drinks, just like being on the Med, yes really.
The Art Deco yet boutique styling of the hotel makes it a fascinating place, as so many British hotels are old fashioned and boring with lounges and rooms looking more like gods waiting rooms.
Here is is very cleverly done, with the bar and restraunt areas really swish. Breakfast buffet is very very good indeed.
Big tip....book direct by phone with the hotel, as there are various room sizes, and prices, according to your need , ranging from the most modest room ( which you would get if you go on a "hotels" internet site ) to a balcony room overlooking the glorious beach vista.
Book it that way and you will not be dissapointed.

Room Tip: BOOK DIRECT, not on a " hotels " site, and if you can afford sea view with balcony you wo...

Didn't stay here but had lunch & a post dinner drink.
Everything about the hotel felt very glamorous & smart .All decorated in Art deco style with a very opulent feel about it. The staff were very friendly & helpful - they put the birthday cake I had made for my daughter's birthday in a cool place in their kitchen & even decorated it with lots of strawberries as I hadn't got chance to buy any myself beforehand.
We sat outside by the lovely pool before lunch & it was such a great holiday atmosphere with nice music playing & good waiter service.& of course all so much the better for a very hot & sunny day.
The three course lunch was very good & plentiful - lots of meat & veg & the most delicious gravy - the Yorkshire puds were enormous & the price was very reasonable

We have spent last Wednesday and Thursday nights as a quick impromptu break. Having tried a few hotels in Bournemouth, we now ALWAYS go back to The Cumberland. It is by far the best hotel in town! It's a fantastic Art Deco Hotel, which sets it apart from the rest. The staff are just amazing. We have not had one bad experience at there with anŷ member of staff. The cleaning ladies, the bar staff, reception, restaurant staff have always been so very friendly, polite, helpful and quite frankly fun to be with. We want to be able to have a chat no matter how brief if we are by the pool, in the lounge, at my dinner table, wherever, and we are never disappointed. We get a cheery "good morning" when we leave our room for breakfast from the cleaning ladies.
The rooms are so lovely and comfortable and clean. The pool is gorgeous and the flowers are lovely. The hotel lounge is great and both restaurants never fail to please!!
Being opposite Bournemouth beach up on the cliff is a treasure, you get the fabulous views without being on top of zillions of people. The Management have clearly got this place nailed, happy staff make for happy REPEAT clientele!!!
We are back in September for another break and we are really looking forward to it.
So once again Thank You Cumberland, for a brilliant break.

Room Tip: Try not to get on the side that is near the hotel next door as it can get noisy late at night when p...

Just arrived back home from a very pleasant weekend away in Bournemouth. We chose the Cumberland for the outdoor pool, in case the sun came out, which it did & made all the difference!
The breakfast was good. The pool & bar area was excellent, as was the service, faultless.
My main issue was the bedroom, which was disappointing. Our bed was 2 singles pushed together, not my vision of a double room. The shower was awful, no pressure & very difficult to get the temperature correct. All in all an enjoyable weekend but could do better. Nearly there.
