Reviewed 8 August 2014

Had a meal for a family
Members birthday this month and the staff were super friendly, very attentive, food came fast, very hot and fresh. Staff will do anything to help. So relaxed and immaculate decor throughout. Feels very luxurious! Will definitely be returning! Well done all at the Cumberland hotel.

Mr Kevin Wood
Director

My wife and I stayed in Room 121 of the Cumberland Hotel for one night on Tuesday, August 5 and could not have been more delighted with our experience. We are rarely able to afford such a luxury but on this occasion it was a wonderful gift from out sons.

Our room left nothing to be desired being clean, comfortable and with soft towels for us after a lovely big bath and shower that had plenty of pressure. Please pass our thanks to the staff who must work very hard to achieve such a high standard.

On the subject of staff, we were most impressed at Reception with their efficiency and the genuinely warm welcome. Their smiles made us feel our brief stay would be special and indeed that proved to be the case. In fact we found the staff everywhere gave such prompt and courteous service that someone never seemed to be far away!

Breakfast and dinner were superb as was the service and so please thank all those we did not see whose talent and skill resulted in meals to remember! When I asked for the names of those who came to our table they were written down as Meri, Greg, Rubina and Franklim. A big thank you to each one.

The decor was absolutely wonderfully and captured an era of grace and style that we had never seen before and left us feeling that the stress of modern living was far away.

Finally we could not quite get over the heated swimming pools (both outside and indoor) that we thought were quite a luxury and greatly enjoyed - even if the outside one was from the comfort of sun lounges.

As you can imagine, we left with great regret and a determination to return again at the earliest opportunity.

Please accept our most grateful thanks to everyone who makes staying at The Cumberland such a memorable experience.

Kind regards and best wishes,

John and Dianne Adams

What a lovely evening! 65th Retirement and Birthday Dinner held for Harry at the Cumberland Hotel for 18 friends and all of them enjoyed it so much that we are still receiving Thank You cards now. Saying how fantastic the food was, and the way the staff were so attentive - and most importantly smiling and happy and not in a rush.

There was a slight wait for our friends but the staff were very accomodating and were very happy to wait for our friends to arrive. And allowed us to dine slightly later than anticipated.

The staff could not do enough for us it was fantastic. At the end of the meal all the Dining Staff came around the table with a Birthday Cake and sang Happy Birthday.

Dear the Owners, Mr Hood - we are so greatfull for letting us have a lovely evening. We have been to The Cumberland Hotel before as we really enjoy the great atmosphere and the 'Art Deco' styled public areas including the most amazing Bar and Dining Room overlooking the gorgeous Portfolio Swimming Pool with the Dolphin.

Harry would just like to say thank you to all the Staff and to Becky for arranging this lovely evening.

Thank you

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet and their best room.

We had a sea view room with a balcony (the red room) and it was lovely. Very calm and could just relax. The room overlooked the outdoor pool too which was lovely to swim in as we had very hot weather. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only minor gripe was the time it took for our food to come out at the restaurant and to get served. Overall an extremely pleasant stay and will come back again.

Dear Mark A,

Thank you for your review. Very pleasing comments regarding your stay with us. The hotel has been buzzing as usual, but with the heat even more so local patrons. My sincere apologies for the slight wait on food, I can only imagine that the kitchen was very busy and they were ploughing through the orders as quick as they can. Our food is prepared fresh, with local sourced ingredients, but the wait is worth it for the extra care and attention.

We hope to welcome you back soon again. Please call direct on 01202-298350 or visit our website. We do guarantee the best rate booking direct.

Stayed at the Cumberland for 2 nights with my partner and 3 children. The hotel is easy to find and parking was a challenge and we found the last spot in the car park

We had 2 rooms and on arrival one of the rooms wasn't ready so we went to the one that was. The room was OK but a little dated and the wardrobe door was hanging off. 30 mins later the other room was ready which was a better room but overlooked the back car park

Pool area are good and you can use the hotel next door which has an indoor pool, gym and sauna and breakfast was OK

The first night it was hard to sleep as the rooms were really hot and the hotel floors creak and could hear every movement in the rooms above and the constant slamming of the heavy duty hallway doors. The 2nd night wasn't much better as there was a wedding occurring and seemed the rooms above were for the weeding guests who seemed to party into the early hours. There was also a hen do staying here

Whilst it was OK for the price I paid I was expecting more, didn't get a good nights sleep due to noise and next time I am staying in Bournemouth I will stay somewhere else

Booked this hotel for a last minute anniversary break away from the teenage children. The room was a little tired, but clean and comfortable. Worth the money we paid for it. The bar and restaurant were a great surprise, lovely furnishings and decor. We relaxed around the pool as the weather was so good. Best of all though, were the staff, every single one of them were so polite and helpful, they were a real credit to the hotel. We will visit again and we have recommended it to all our friends.
