I enjoyed a fab mid week break with my father. Very good value and meals super excellent choice for buffet style breakfast Staff were all very helpful attentive and friendly. Single clean and quiet room. Which was situated opposite the lift as I had injured my leg this was most convenient.
As we had blue skies and sunshine for the length of our stay we were able to capitalise on the use of the pool and lido it really had a Mediterranean feel to it.
You wouldn't get better in a 5 star hotel

We stayed for 3 nights in a sea-facing room with balcony on the top floor (405). The room was very nice and the bathroom was functional but dated in style. There was an incongruous white toilet seat on the green toilet which slipped a bit! The views were fantastic both over the sea and towards the town. Wi-fi was a bit feeble at times and the kids found their 4g more reliable.
The staff were very, very nice. The food in the Mirabelle restaurant likewise. The public areas are all smart and fresh and give the hotel a feel-good factor. The heated outdoor pool is great and towels are provided by reception. The pool area was busy when the sun shone. It can be used by residents at the Cumberland's two sister hotels, which is mildly irritating when you've paid the higher rates at the Cumberland but can't get a lounger!
No hotel is perfect and there were 3 features of the Cumberland that were particularly annoying as far as we were concerned. Firstly, smoking is allowed around the swimming pool and sometimes it was like being back in the seventies. Not a good example to kids involved in healthy swimming. Secondly, there are some sensible rules such as no glasses in the pool area and no diving but these are not observed or enforced. Lastly, there are three 'chill beds' by the pool which are for hire at a laughable £50 a day and so were to a great extent simply as waste of space.
Mostly, though, a really nice stay.

Room Tip: Whole point of this hotel is to have a sea view!

i would highly recommend this hotel, and the staff were second to none.
The buffet breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice.
The pool area was contemporary, the weather was very nice so it felt quite continental!

Good value for money. Very good for a three star hotel. Very good generous breakfast and in general dining and bar at the hotel have been a good experience. Quite stylish decor of the dining area. Decent swimming pool and the area around it. Beautiful weather helped. The dog was restricted to the room only. Overall, we did not find Bournemouth very dog friendly as most of the beaches do not allow dogs and finding a place to eat out with a dog is rather difficult. Not likely to go with the dog there again.
The room - decent size, comfortable beds but smelly wardrobe so we did not use it.
Overall, the staff were helpful and friendly.
The hotel is close to the beaches. Very good for walking.

Room Tip: we had one of the two rooms for visitors with dogs... rooms overlooking the sea are good

Sunday lunch for a group of 12 in the Mirabelle Restaurant which was to celebrate a friend birthday - we were really impressed with the standard of the hotel, the food and the service; couldn't fault any of it. The restaurant was very busy with other large groups as well but I have to say, the service was excellent. The menu had some great choices and after placing our order the food was served quickly. It was piping hot, tasty and clearly home made. Everyone in the group was really pleased with the choice of venue and I would recommend it without hesitation.
