Me and a friend booked the Boot Camp with Adrian and stayed at The Queens Hotel & Spa. I put my hand on my heart and say it was the best experience/stay I've had in along time! Most times a trip away can only tick 2 or 3 boxes, this ticked all! The food was out of this world, the service 5 Star and rooms comfy and clean. We made use of the Spa facilities and again fantastic and affordable. They even opened up on a usual closed day because there was a demand for that day! For those that want to get fit and need a kick start in the right direction with exercise and nutritional advice Boot Camp is for you. Adrian a Personal Trainer and group exercise instructor since 1998 whom was informative, experienced and motivating. We had an amazing week, and would definitely return. Thank you Queens and Adie.

Room Tip: 1st floor and floors can be a bit creaky.

I had a meal at the Queens Hotel on 12 January, 2014 with close on 75 friends. The meal was wonderful. Hot, tasty, and plentiful. The service was efficient and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.

I will certainly return when possible and will recommend it to others. Not all hotels/restaurants are able to cope with large numbers, but the Queens coped admirably.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights for a boot camp. This is definitely a 3 star hotel which I would describe as average. I had no problems with the room but some of the party did. The room was clean and looked nice. I found staff friendly and pleasant. The room was nice and warm, warm enough to walk around nude after a shower. It is very close to the beach which is a plus and a short walk to the town centre. Food was average, the chef didn't appear to understand what vegetarian meals are but that didn't affect me just another person in the party.

The spa was nice, pool warm, sauna and steam room nicely hot. The Jacuzzi though does urgently need a clean as has been said by others. I went on my own and had a nice double room.

Thank you for your review netkitten – we appreciate all feedback!

With regard to your stay we are glad you enjoyed your bootcamp and that the room was warm and cosy.

We are sad to hear that the food wasn’t quite as good as it could have been and we will address this with the chef that was on duty during your stay.

The hotel is currently undergoing a lot of refurbishment and the pool/spa areas are being updated as we speak.

We do hope you return so that you can see the difference!

Stayed here at the weekend for a function.. Paid £45 for a double room " a subsidised rate I was told" for room only.. When we got to the room it was like going back 30 years..!! Every piece of furniture was broken in some way, there was a stain around the bed where they had put in 4ft bed not a double!!.. The light shades were burnt over 30 years off wear, paper hanging off the ceiling, pipes rusted and stained.. The TV didn't work and they took over two hours to come to sort it and it still didn't work... Over all the room should not be let out for any more than £10!!.. On the small plus side the bathroom was tiny.. But modern and clean... Will not stay here again..?no thanks!!

Thank you for your review Simonkay66.

We are sad to hear that your stay at the Queens was not what you expected. We are currently undergoing a lot of refurbishment at the hotel and the rooms are being updated floor by floor.

We like to respond to clients needs as soon as possible so we are sorry that it took so long for someone to attend to the television in your room.

We would love to restore your faith in the hotel, so please do give our General Manager a call and he will do his best to ensure you are placed in one of our newly refurbished rooms.

Best wishes

stayed for a night with a friend and got a very cheap deal of £20 on trivago, com.

For that price it was great. Room was clean and bathroom fine. Wifi was quite poor and tv could have done with more channels but was only there one night so want an issue. could do with a bit of a refurb but yeah was ok. swimming pool was not bad although hot tub had loads of sand at the bottom which was weird. steam room wasnt working which was a shame....they should have put a out of order sign up or had a look really.

overall, wouldnt have payed full price to stay here but my visit was fine.

I booked this hotel for a friends Christmas reunion weekend 14th 15th December. Total persons 11.Was told possibly be two tables in the dining room which was no problem. We booked in September and spoke with a charming receptionist. When we arrived noticed a board up in reception with various company names, they were obviously having their company Xmas parties.
What we soon realized when entering the bar before dinner was this hotel was overbooked that Saturday in terms restaurant facilities. There were several tables in the bar are with people dining and much to our amazement a table was being laid up for 11. I went to inquire who this table was for and my guess was spot ,on for us.I asked for the manager at reception who promptly came and asked him why were dining in a bar.He seemed rather amazed that we didn't find this satisfactory. He said it has been refurbished 3 weeks ago and was used as extra dining.Didn't have a lot of choice as we all wanted to eat. The food was acceptable but not amazing. We did our best to ignore the people waiting to be served at the bar from these company parties who were in the dining rooms, most of them. That was until the smokers decided it was time to go outside the main door which was automatic, for their puff resulting in a terrific draught straight through to the bar and to us. I again complained and the manager produced portable heaters. Wow he had a supply in a back room which were plugged in and blowing heat on us.We were supposed to be delighted!! Thoughts of Basil Fawlty came to mind with us all. We thought we were in a comedy sketch complete with trailing cables.

One female passing through to the bar nearly took a tumble in her 6 inch heels.Health and safety not a priority here.

The food was adequate the room we had was warm and clean. Not so with our friends one had no heating at all and when they complained soon after checking in a heater was brought to their room which they said was badly in need of refurbishment as were the rooms of others in our party.

We found out during our repeated complaints that this hotel is privately owned not a chain so the manager is the furthest your complaint goes. He did in all fairness email me back after putting all this to him in a email. He kindly offered myself and my husband another night free at the Queens as he did another in our party. This guy is a joke! another of our couples is still awaiting a reply.

Needless to say we declined and would not stay if he paid us. This guy just seems so ill equipped with dealing with complaints I actually believe he thought we were fussing about nothing.

Avoid the Queens!!

stayed 1 night for bed and breakfast. good value at £35 for 2 people, but stayed on 4th floor room was very dated and tired paper peeling in room plus mould in corner near ceiling a lick of paint wouldn't go amiss. not as warm in room as we would like. Staff very helpful, no problems there. come on owners spend a little you will gain a lot in people returning, used to be top hotel years ago and could be again
